A Racquet That’s Stood The Test Of Time

This long-standing classic from Prince gives players of all levels the power, control, and crisp feel they need on the squash court.

The lightweight Pro Airstick Lite 550 Squash Racket is light and easy to use. This is thanks to its mid-plus head which gives players awesome control and plenty of power.

TeXtreme technology provides additional power, superior accuracy, response, and torsional stability.

Power Ring Technology

Power Ring technology allows for a larger sweetspot. This technology also moves it higher in the frame, where most balls are hit. This makes it easier for you to hit the balls that are extremely close on the sidewall. Having the ability to return those very tight shots will deflate your opponent. It also gives you plenty of confidence to win your squash match.

This full graphite racquet with a lightweight construction that offers exceptional shock absorption, power and stability is a popular choice for children. This is due to how light it feels in the hand while still giving kids the power and control they need to hone their skills on the court.

This is one of the most popular performance squash racquets in the world. It’s obvious why after you play your first match with this racket.

Great Squash Racquet For All Ages And Abilities

Novak Djokovic’s Plea for Relaxed Quarantine Regulations Rejected by Australian Government

Novak Djokovic

Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic had sent a letter to the Australian Open officials, pleading to relax the strict quarantine restrictions. Prior to Novak’s letter, some other pros had also expressed their disappointment towards the hard and fast quarantine rules. However, despite the 17 times grand slam winner’s requests, the Australian government officials are reluctant to relax the restrictions.

Ben Andrews, the Premier of the State of Victoria, has reaffirmed that under no circumstance are the restrictions going to be loosened. He also said that players are free to make demands, but the authorities will not make compromises for anybody. All the 72 players who were told to go through quarantine will have to abide by the rules.

Emma Cassar, who is in charge of quarantine in Victoria, has said that she understands it is not easy to go through a 14-day quarantine period, but the community health will not be risked regardless of elite players requesting to lift some of the restrictions.

Wilson Clash 100 Specs & Features

Design and Build

If you are looking for a large, but light racket then the Wilson Clash 100 will serve you well. With a large head size of 100 square inches, the Wilson Clash 100 tennis racket is built for beginner to pro level tennis players. It’s definitely not one of the stiffest rackets on the market and the graphite frame compliments that very well.

The most amazing part of the design of the Wilson Clash 100 tennis racquet is its flexible nature. Despite the large head size, it only weighs 10.9 ounces when strung. As a result, it is very easy to maneuver. Players who love speed and acceleration will find this racket an ideal racket of choice.

Technologies

There are two innovative technologies that are responsible for the flexible nature of this racket. With FreeFlex and StableSmart the racket feels really crisp and solid and at the same time does not weigh that much.

Color

The color combination of black, gray and red is liked by many who play with this racket, but some are not a fan. Color is obviously a personal preference & shouldn’t really be a reason to buy or not buy a tennis racket. Anyways, a racket’s color will not determine how well you will play with it, so it’s not a reason to overlook the other qualities this racket has.

Strings and Grip

I have seen a lot of players falling for a racket’s size, material, and implemented technologies while totally ignoring the grip. This is a grave mistake. You have to hold your racket first before you can actually hit the tennis ball and then start winning matches. If the grip your racket comes with is not good, then you are not going to play well.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about the grip of the Wilson Clash 100 tennis racquet. It has a standard grip size choice of 4 1/2 in(114mm), 4 3/8 in(111mm), 4 1/4 in(108mm) & 4 1/8 in(105mm). The handle part of the racket is slightly heavier than the head, and the grip feels quite comfortable. The standard grip size means you can easily wrap an overgrip if you have a bigger palm and want to hold the racket firmly. The best part is that it comes with a pre-installed Wilson Pro Performance grip. This is one of the most popular grips from Wilson, and my experience with this has been great so far. However, I don’t have sweaty hands in particular, so you may want to get a towel overgrip if your hands sweat a lot during a match.

The string setup of the Wilson Clash 100 aims for speed and spin. It has a one-piece string setup with no shared holes. The 16 mains/19 crosses pattern is pretty standard. There’s nothing fancy about string tension as well, as it ranges from 48 to 58 pounds.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The Wilson Clash 100 is one of the most flexible tennis rackets you can find at this price point. With technologies like FreeFlex and StableSmart, this racket is great for versatile players who love long rallies and aim to force an error from their opponent.
  • This racket is great for beginner to advanced level players. Despite having a large sweet spot, it’s not very heavy. It makes it much easier for beginner players to get the hang of the basics of tennis.
  • As the Wilson Clash 100 is made of graphite, this is a racket that will last for an extended period of time. If you buy this racket you won’t have to buy another for at least two years, unless you are prone to racket abuse :-)
  • It comes with a really good quality grip. The Wilson Pro Performance grip feels great in hand, and provides the perfect support to generate speed and spin.
  • The string tension of the Wilson Clash 100 is really convenient for beginner players because it belongs to the range where receiving the ball is much easier even with a low level of skill.

Cons

  • If you are a power player, this racket is not for you. The Wilson Clash 100 is designed and developed mainly for players who want control & those who love flexibility, speed, and spin. It does not generate enormous power for the users to overwhelm their opponents. If you are looking for something powerful then the Babolat Pure Drive is a great choice.

What To Consider Before Buying A Wilson Clash 100 Racquet

Your tennis racquet is an extension of yourself on the tennis court. It’s not surprising at all that many tennis players do extensive research before buying a new racquet.

These are some key points to keep in mind:

Size of Racquet

Determine if a shorter or longer racquet is best for you based on your particular body type.

Strung or Unstrung

Most advanced tennis players prefer to have their racquets strung specifically for them rather than having them pre-strung by the manufacturer.

The manufacturer will often provide instructions for stringing your racquet too.

Player Skill Level

Before you shop for a tennis racquet, it is important to assess your level of skill on the court. This will allow you to determine which type of tennis racquet best suits your playing style.

It is also important to define your goals. This will help you decide if power is more important than control or if a balance of the two is needed.

Conclusion

In my experience, the Wilson Clash 100 is one of the best tennis rackets any tennis player can buy. Sure, it is not as cheap as some other rackets, but the control that the Wilson Clash 100 tennis racket gives players makes it worth it’s weight in gold. It’s one of the rare tennis rackets on the market today that can be used by beginner & advanced players alike. It is highly recommended.

New Babolat Pure Drive 2021 Review: How Good is this Racket?

Babolat Pure Drive 2021 Tennis Racquet

Remember Andy Roddick? If you are a 90’s kid and loved tennis since your childhood, then you definitely remember how an underdog stole the show in the US Open of 2003 and clinched the title. Those glory days of Andy ended quite a few years ago, but he still has a special place in American tennis fans’ heart. Well, this post is not about the man himself, but the racket he used to play with. Though a Babolat Pure Drive tennis racquet was named after Andy in the later stages of his career, he played with the Babolat Pure Drive for a long period of time. In this Babolat Pure Drive review, I’d like to discuss how good this racket actually is.

Babolat brings new versions of their racket lines out every year and the newest version of this racket is the Babolat Pure Drive 2021. It’s not just tennis heroes from the past that played with the Babolat Pure Drive, today’s top players such as Dominic Thiem  &  Kim Clijsters perform at the highest level with the Babolat Pure Drive 2021. I’ll focus on this latest model.

If you are one of Andy’s fans, like myself, and want to know if this racket is right for you then you will find this article very resourceful. I know there are many tennis players who wonder if they should buy a Babolat Pure Drive2021 tennis racquet. If you are one of them, then consider this as your buying guide.

Features and Specifications

Design and Build

Babolat tennis rackets are renowned for their large head sizes, and the Pure Drive is no different. With a head size of 100 square inches this racket comes with a considerably large sweet spot. Tennis rackets that have large head sizes tend to compromise length, but that is not the case with the Babolat Pure Drive. It has a length of 27 inches, making it one of the longest rackets out there. This is very convenient for advanced tennis players as they prefer long rackets.

The base material that has been used to build this racket is graphite. If you have previous experience with graphite rackets, then you already understand how durable this material is. Graphite rackets are built to last for an extended period of time, and the Babolat Pure Drive tennis racquet will serve you for many years if you maintain it properly.

I’d have to say this racket is a bit on the heavier side, but that is not necessarily a negative in my opinion. Babolat tennis rackets are built to generate maximum power with minimum output, so the weight is necessary. It is a head-light racket, so the grip is heavier compared to the head part.

Grip and Strings

One of the most significant benefits of owning a Babolat racket is, you will receive good quality grip and strings with it. There is no need to spend additional money to install better quality grips and strings, as the pre-installed ones are really good. The Babolat Pure Drive comes with Babolat’s signature Syntec Pro grip, one of the best grips out there. With 1.9mm thickness, this grip feels great in hand. Even if you have sweaty hands, I don’t think you need to get a sweat-resistant overgrip. It is convenient to use for players who have a sweat problem.

Babolat Pure Drive Strings

The Babolat Pure Drive tennis racket has Dunlop S-gut 16 strings. Stringing pattern has 16 mains and 19 crosses, a perfect standard for rackets with large sweet spots. The magic happens in the swing tension department, as it ranges from 50 to 59 pounds. This is indeed a lot, and will help power players win a lot of matches. On top of that, the strings are capable of absorbing the force when you receive a powerful forehand. The vibration is minimum, and you will not find it difficult to place your returns where you want.

Technologies Used

Woofer

I simply could not complete my Babolat Pure Drive 2021 review without mentioning the signature Woofer Technology, specifically developed by Babolat. To understand this technology, you need to know the basics of a tennis racket itself. Tennis rackets come with a frame that has strings. The frame’s job is to hold the driving force of the racket that is created by the strings. When you hit the ball with your tennis racket, only a few parts of the strings are active. This is where the Woofer technology comes into it’s own. Babolat aims to unleash the full potential of their rackets with this technology. Woofer ensures that all parts of the strings work together to put maximum impact behind the ball.

Firstly, Woofer prevents string lockups, so that all the strings are free to move. Secondly, Woofer makes sure the whole surface of the racket head gets involved while making a shot. The large sweet spot is responsible for this. Great surface deformation on impact generates 10% more power, and the strings are also able to maintain the energy for quite some time. Shock absorption makes the racket more forgiving, so less experienced tennis players or those having a dip in form will find it very useful as well.

FSI Power

As the name suggests, FSI power technology is for enhancing the power the racket generates. The new string pattern & diamond shaed grommets keeps the spacing between cross strings wide, the string tension can put more force behind the ball when you hit it. On top of that, you will receive a greater range of movement for the strings. This creates a wider sweetspot across the width of the racket frame. Wider spaces also make it much easier to receive powerful serves without hitting the ball too hard. Players will love this technology because it even allows you to maximize power with shots that are hit off centre.

Cortex Pure Feel

The Cortex Pure Feel technology has made it extremely comfortable for players to play with this racket. It makes a great sound when you hit a forehand and you will feel the cleanliness of the impact in your hands instantly.

HTR System

Babolat Pure Drive Technologies

The HTR system is a relatively new addition to the current generation of Babolat rackets. The graphite layup has been re-engineered in the 2021 version of the Babolat Pure Drive. It comes with higher torsional rigidity. As a result, you will be able to transfer more energy to the ball. It also makes sure that the energy is kept under control when necessary. Even if you return a fast paced shot with the Pure Drive, you will be able to keep the ball inside the court as long as you are hitting it with the sweet spot of your racket.

Who Should Use the New Babolat Pure Drive 2021Tennis Racquet?

We started our discussion reminiscing about Andy Roddick and now we are going back to him once again. Remember the type of player he was? He used to rely on power! And the Babolat Pure Drive is for players who have a similar style of play. If you have carefully read through the technologies that have been used in this racket, you already know that this racket is built for power.

Players who have a strong forehand but want more spin in their shots, should choose this racket with their eyes closed. Spin-friendly targeting and explosive acceleration are the strongest points of the Babolat Pure Drive 2021.

Despite being a bit on the heavy side, this racket has exceptional all-court mobility. You can easily hit winners when charging to the front of court or while on the run. Doesn’t that remind you of Andy Roddick himself? If you are versatile in using different parts of the court to smash winners or force errors from your opponent, this racket will be your best companion in your mission.

However, if you are an absolute beginner who is just getting the hang of tennis, I would not recommend this racket for a number of reasons. First of all, generally beginners are not good at handling heavy rackets well. Your hands might strain or you may just lose points for not being able to maneuver the racket fast enough. Secondly, many beginners simply lose interest in tennis after playing for a short period of time. This tennis racket is relatively expensive. There is no need to spend so much money for your first racket unless you are absolutely sure that you are going to play tennis for a long time.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Brilliant design and build quality
  • Exceptional technologies to enhance power and efficiency
  • Shock absorption for strong returns
  • High string tension
  • Good quality strings and grip
  • Large sweet spot
  • Perfect weight distribution

Cons

  • A bit heavy for beginners
  • High Price Point

Conclusion

We wanted to answer if Andy Roddick’s racket is any good, and it’s damn good! Sure, it’s price point is higher than the average tennis racket, but the Babolat Pure Drive 2021 tennis racquet should be seen as an investment not an expense. Remember, it is an intermediate to advanced player level racket that comes with a lot of features you won’t find in mid-range options. So don’t think that the price is not justified, it absolutely is. The technologies used in this racket are simply amazing. With the new additions, it is the racket to watch out for in 2021!

Overview

Head i110 Squash Racquet Review

Overall Rating: 4.4 out of 5

Swing Style: Power

Length: 27 inches(686 mm)

Balance: Head Heavy – 14 – 14 3/4 inches(355-375 mm)

Head Size: 77 square inches(495 square cm)

Frame: Titanium/ Graphite Composite

Beam: 3/4 inch (19.5 mm)

Weight:  3.9 ounces(110g)

String Pattern: 12/17

Grip Size: 3 7/8 inches(98 mm)

To consider a squash racket as the best beginner’s squash racquets choice, you need to understand the priorities of a beginner level player. Beginners have recently been introduced to the sport of squash & are getting the hang of the game. As they are not very skillful or are still learning the correct techniques, they will find it difficult on occasion to time their shots, will struggle to reach corners, and won’t be able to move around with ease or in the most energy efficient manner. What they need is a lightweight racket with a large sweet spot, at the same time capable of generating enough power. And the Head i110 ticks all those boxes.

This squash racket is made of titanium and carbon fiber, keeping the weight under control. On top of that, durability is not compromised as both carbon fiber and titanium are exceptionally strong. This is important for beginner players because they tend to hit the side & back walls of the squash court more often than those who have learnt to understand which shots to use at what time. It’s large head size comes with a larger sweet spot, making it easier for beginners to time their shots. Though it is not one of the premium rackets manufactured by Head, it includes the signature Head Intelfibre technology, providing more control by eliminating up to 20% vibration during impact.

It also has another signature technology from Head, called PowerFrame. It offers firm grip, advanced stability, and more power, combined with standard string tension. Beginners are not good at stringing their rackets, and they won’t have to do it themselves with this racket as it is pre-strung.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Enhanced Maneuverability
  • Intelfibre Technology
  • PowerFrame Technology
  • Large Sweet Spot

Cons

  • A bit on the expensive side

“I am an average player and play squash 3-4 times per week. This is a lightweight racquet that handles well and enables some powerful hits. I also have a Head Ti100 racquet, but I like the i110 slightly better. Both Head racquets are durable. In the past three years, I broke 2 Prince and 1 Dunlop racquet, but the Head racquets are able to take a beating without breaking.” Review by MattMan from The USA

Tecnifibre Carboflex 125 X-Speed Squash Racquet Review

Overall Rating: 4.6 out of 5

Swing Style: Offensive Play

Length: 27 inches(685 mm)

Balance: Even – 13 3/4 inches(350 mm)

Head Size: 77.5 square inches(500 square cm)

Frame: Graphite

Weight:  4.4 ounces(125g)

String Pattern: 14/18

Grip: Squash Dry

Just like Head, Tecnifibre is another big brand name in the squash racket industry. Their Carboflex series is a top choice for professional level players. The Carboflex 125 X-Speed is one of the best squash racquets the Carboflex series has to offer.

Intermediate level players are pretty good at squash. These players are obviously not as good as the pros, but they have played the game for a few months at least and understand the basic strategies very well. They are also skillful enough to make best use of the resources their racket has to offer. They wouldn’t mind a bit of weight, and a unique shaft geometry. That’s why I believe the Carboflex 125 X-Speed is the best squash racket for intermediate players.

I’d have to say this racket is a bit on the heavier side, weighing almost 130 grams. This weight is justified though because of the large head size it comes with. The weight distribution is done in a way that will not make you feel that your racket is a heavy one. The large head size is also complimented with DNMAX 1.2 “17 gauge strings, providing really decent control and power. You’ll immediately notice the crisp swing when you strike the ball.

Another great thing about the Tecnifibre Carboflex 125 X-Speed squash racket is its premium quality grip. The grip feels so good in your hand that very few players consider changing it when they first buy the racket, or even wrap an overgrip over it. Exactly what you need as an intermediate level squash player!

Pros

  • Large Sweet Spot
  • DNMAX 1.2 ’17 gauge Strings
  • Balanced Weight Distribution
  • Efficient Shaft Geometry
  • Unique Shaft Geometry

Cons

  • A bit on the heavier side

Head Size: 71.3 square inches(460 square cm)

Weight:  4.8 ounces(135g)

String Pattern: 14/16 + 20/16

Grip Size: Hydrosorb Pro Grip

If I am to choose a squash racket for professional players, no wonder I would go with one from the Head Graphene series. This series is one of the most celebrated one among squash players all over the world, and rightly so.

The best part about the Graphene series is the variety of options it comes with. You need a heavy racket? This is series has one. You need a lightweight? The Graphene series got you covered. Graphene is the core material in this racket, and it is probably the most durable and flexible one around.

The actual brilliance can be seen on the design of this racket. It is a racket built for players with decent shot placement. It has a comparatively thinner beam for providing more aerodynamics. Coming with Graphene XT technology, the Head Graphene XT Xenon combines maneuverability very well with speed, without having to compromise with accuracy. This is why it’s one of the best squash racquets on the market today.

From the tip to the end of the grip, this racket has optimal distribution of weight. The top and bottom part is heavier than the middle, so that the players can generate more kinetic energy. You will be able to generate a lot of power with minimal energy.

Pros

  • Graphene 200 times stronger than steel so very durable racket
  • Optimal weight distribution
  • Great for shot placement
  • Perfect combination of speed and maneuverability
  • Compliments high level of play very well

Cons

  • Expensive

The rules of pickleball are quite simple and people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy this wonderful sport. Even if you don’t have any prior experience in playing court sports like badminton and tennis, it won’t take you long to get the hang of pickleball. If you are serious about this sport, then you must have a list of all the pickleball equipment that you might need to be the best pickleball player that you can be. On the other hand, if you are just playing pickleball for fun, knowing what pickleball equipment you need is important to enjoy the sport to the fullest.

What Is Pickleball?

Apart from being a court sport itself, pickleball is significantly different from its counterparts like tennis or badminton. In fact, it can be described as a fusion of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong. Take a look at our comprehensive list of Pickleball Questions And Answers which will answer all your burning Pickleball questions.

Those of you who not only play pickleball, but also play tennis & badminton please take a look at our comprehensive tennis equipment list as well as our badminton equipment list. Some players believe that pickleball can be played with the same accessories as tennis or badminton, the paddle and the ball being the only exception. This is not the case and you will get a clear idea after going through my list of pickleball equipment.

Let’s start, shall we?

Pickleball Paddle

Pickleball paddles, also known as rackets or bats by those new to the sport, are one of the main components of pickleball and should be the number one item on your pickleball equipment list. What is a pickleball paddle used for? It’s obvious, you use a pickleball paddle to hit the pickleball ball! At first look, one might mistake a pickleball paddle as a plus sized table tennis bat. Unlike table tennis, pickleball is played on a large court with a relatively large ball, so the paddle needs to be the suitable size too.

While very basic pickleball paddles are made of wood, lighter materials such as composite and graphite are very popular in pickleball paddle production. You can choose either of these materials depending on your comfort and playing style.

Pickleball Paddle Materials

If you are going with a wood pickleball paddle, make sure you don’t choose the lightest option out there. They tend to rip apart during intense games as they are not too durable. Wooden paddles are the cheapest option available & are a good option if you want to try the sport & don’t want to break the bank when purchasing your first paddle. Composite pickleball paddles are lighter & more expensive than wooden paddles and are becoming more popular with pickleball players. These paddles have a composite core with a carbon fiber or fiberglass surface. When we say a composite core we’re talking about a core which is constructed using , aluminium, polymer or a material called Nomex which is a type of nylon.

Pick a paddle made of graphite if cost is not a huge consideration because graphite paddles are the most expensive type of pickleball paddle. Graphite paddles are generally easier to control & light weight.

Pickleball Paddle Weight

The ideal weight of a decent paddle should be between 5 to 15 ounces. Anything outside this range is not recommended at all.

Pickleball Paddle Grip

Another important factor you must consider while purchasing a pickleball paddle is the grip. Without comfortably gripping your paddle, you won’t be able to play well against good opponents. The grip can’t be too big or too small. Moreover, if the grip is too big, playing for a while might even strain your elbow.

I know that pickleballers very often also play tennis, so if you’re a tennis enthusiast as well as a pickleballer then please take a look at our reviews of the best tennis rackets of 2020.

Also, take a look at our in-depth review of the Onix Z5 Graphite Pickleball Paddle.

Here is our recommendations for pickleball paddles which cover all price brackets:

Pickleball Ball

As the name of the sport itself is ‘pickleball’, you definitely need a ball to play this popular sport which is why it should be the second item on your pickleball equipment list. There are two types of balls used to play pickleball; indoor and outdoor pickleball balls. Pickleballs are unique looking, as they come with holes to maintain certain aerodynamics when they travel through the air.Pickleball balls

Regardless of where you play, you need to understand that pickleball balls need to be replaced on a regular basis. The base material is plastic, which wears out over time. However, purchasing from trusted manufacturers is important, because you wouldn’t like it if you had to change a number of balls during a match.

Indoor Pickleball Balls

Pickleball is very often played in indoor courts and gyms. The indoor environment is significantly different from the outdoors, and the balls are slightly different as well. I am not saying that it is not possible to play pickleball with the same balls both indoors and outdoors, but to replicate a professional playing environment, you should have different pickleballs for indoors and outdoors.

Indoor pickleballs are slightly lighter than outdoor ones. If you are playing indoors, air would not be of that much significance in terms of determining the trajectory of the ball. That’s why indoor pickleballs are slightly lighter than their outdoor counterparts. Indoor pickleballs usually tend to last longer as well because indoor floors are less damaging to pickleball balls than outdoor courts. The major visual difference is that the holes are larger.

Here are the our recommendations for indoor pickleball balls:

Outdoor Pickleball Balls

Outdoor pickleballs are replaced more frequently than indoor pickleballs. As we all know,  outdoor courts usually have rough surfaces and the pickleball balls gets damaged much quicker while playing on these rougher surfaces. These balls are slightly heavier and contain smaller holes because there is wind outdoors that can change the trajectory of the balls. If you are willing to play pickleball as an outdoor sport, then the following are great outdoor pickleball ball options.

Pickleball Net

You don’t need to own a pickleball net if you play in a gym or court where nets are already installed. On the other hand, if you want to build your own pickleball court in your backyard, then purchasing a net is a must. Pickleball doesn’t need a large court like tennis. In fact, pickleball courts take barely 30% of the space of a regular tennis court. That’s why more people are willing to build their own pickleball courts compered to tennis court.

Portable pickleball nets are a great equipment option. These nets can be taken anywhere. By using portable nets, you can even turn your existing tennis court or your driveway into a pickleball court! Portable nets are suitable for both indoors and outdoors. You should choose a pickleball net with the approved dimension though. The width of the net needs to be 20 feet at least. The approved height for pickleball nets is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center.

Here are the pickleball nets for your equipment list that are recommended by us.

Pickleball Shoes

Both male and female pickleball players need to wear good footwear to get the necessary support needed to win matches. A good pair of shoes is essential pickleball equipment needed to improve a player’s ability to move over the court. In addition, good quality shoes also prevent joint injuries. Well, there are not a lot of shoes in the market that are dedicated designed for pickleball players, but one thing I can say is that you need to wear court shoes at least to play pickleball.

For choosing a good pair of shoes, first you need to consider sole traction and lateral stability. You also have to consider cushioning. I would recommend not wearing shoes with heavy cushions, as not that much jumping is involved in pickleball. And lastly, you need a separate pair of shoes for indoor and outdoor pickleball. As indoor and outdoor courts have different surfaces, one shoe might not fit both types of courts.

Here are the pickleball shoe recommendations I have picked for you.

Mens Pickleball Shoes

Pickleball Bags

As you can tell from our list so far, there is a number of pieces of pickleball equipment & accessories. That’s why you should have your own pickleball kit bag to carry all your pickleball gear around in.

There are a few different styles of pickleball bag, including sling bags, backpacks, duffel bags and larger tennis racket style bags, but ultimately the choice of which one to choose comes down to personal preference. Some folks want a bag to carry a paddle & a couple of balls, while others want a bag big enough to fit their shoes, a change of clothes, their cell phone as well as a number of items which are on our equipment list. They do that to make sure they’re prepared for anything that they encounter before, during or after their pickleball game.

Decide what you want your pickleball bag to do for you & choose accordingly. We’ve given the top choices of pickleball bags, including a few different styles & sizes to help make your choice easier:

Pickleball Sets

Those who are just starting out and wouldn’t want to go through the trouble of purchasing pickleball equipment and accessories separately, you might want to consider pickleball sets. The standard pickleball set comes with a pair of pickleball paddles, a few pickleball balls, and a small bag. Purchasing sets is a great way to reduce the cost when you’re starting out with the sport, as most of the pickleball sets are usually priced lower than the sum of the price of each of the products.

Here are a few sets you can take a look at!

Pickleball Grip Tape

As for any court sport you need to firmly hold your racket or paddle to play better. Just like rackets, pickleball paddles need comfortable and solid grips. Pickleball grip tape is the go-to pickleball equipment option for most players to enhance their grip on their pickleball paddle. Wrapping good quality grip tape around the paddle’s handle will make it much easier to control their paddle.

Solution For Sweaty Palms

If you have sweaty palms, it is a must that you wrap grip tape around your paddle’s handle. The pre-installed grip of your pickleball paddle might not be enough to prevent sweat from building up and residing on your paddle’s handle. Cheaper paddles usually come with low quality grip wrappers that don’t provide any resistance to sweat at all. This might significantly affect your performance. If you are using a head-heavy pickleball paddle, then your palm sweat can get in your way, and the paddle might even slip out of your hand while hitting the ball.

Another use of pickleball grip tapes is to provide more thickness to the handle. Some players feel comfortable playing with handles this way. If you are one of them, it is highly recommended for you to invest in good quality grip tapes. Grip tapes are not too expensive either. See some of them in the recommendation list below.

Pickleball Paddle Covers

The next entry into our professional pickleball accessories list is pickleball paddle covers. If you are in love with pickleball, then it’s quite certain that you are in love with your pickleball paddle as well. You’ll be surprised to know that professional pickleball players also have their favorite paddle, no matter how many other paddles they own, just like me and you! You would not want to see your favorite paddle wear and tear due to damage caused outside the court, right? This is why you should consider buying a pickleball paddle cover.

Pickleball paddle covers are not only great for protecting your favorite paddle, but also make it really convenient for you to carry your paddle if you are not using a bag. Most paddle covers are roughly 9×12 inches, though any size would do as long as your pickleball paddle fits inside it.

Prolong The Lifespan Of Your Pickleball Paddle

Even if your pickleball paddle set includes covers, you should consider buying better ones because the ones included in paddle sets are sometimes of an inferior quality to be totally honest. Longevity, cushioning, and zipper strength should be your main concerns while buying pickleball paddle covers. Good paddle covers are great pieces of pickleball equipment and can last years. With good cushioning, a paddle cover can prolong the lifespan of your paddle as well. Zipper strength is also important because your cover will become unusable if the zipper doesn’t work. Don’t purchase paddle covers that come with loose zippers.

Here are the options I’ve picked for you.

Pickleball Clothing

Pickleball clothing & apparel is really important for both men & women pickleballers. The difficulty any pickleball player faces when they want to choose the right clothing to wear for a game of pickleball is that there isn’t a specific category called Pickleball Clothing, so many people are unsure whether specific clothing will be appropriate to wear on the pickleball court. There was a time when you could play pickleball wearing literally anything. Even intermediate level pickleball players used to play the game wearing some silly t-shirts and three-quarter pants. Everything was perfectly acceptable.

Pickleball has become more popular which is why players are becoming more professional looking as well. Our list of professional pickleball accessories wouldn’t be complete without including pickleball apparel. This is why I’ve done the research for you to find the best pickleball clothing for both men & women. I recently came across another great servant of pickleball who has some great pickleball clothing recommendations too.

Mens Pickleball Shirts

Well, pickleball apparel is not too different from tennis apparel, as the game itself is somewhat similar to tennis. Regardless of being a more casual sport than tennis, there is a trendy edge when it comes to pickleball apparel. Men today have their preferred choices for pickleball shirts. Sure, there is no certain dress code for pickleball players, but you wouldn’t want to look silly wearing your Mickey Mouse t-shirt while others are wearing more professional sports shirts.

The most common material for male pickleball player shirts is polyester. While some players do love cotton, it is not recommended because cotton tends to get dripped in sweat after a while. Don’t choose too tight or too loose shirts, as you will find it very uncomfortable to run over the court wearing such shirts. Make sure your pickleball shirt is breathable and allows enough air flow. You wouldn’t want to change your shirt multiple times during a match, so comfort comes first before style.

Here are my picks!

Womens Pickleball Shirts

Just like their male counterparts, women pickleball players prefer polyester tops over other materials. The reasoning is the same, a player needs to be on her toes while playing this game, and only breathable clothing that helps keep you cool and is good moisture wicking material can help achieve that. Like male players, female pickleball players mostly wear short sleeved shirts, though very rarely some players choose long sleeves. You will also see a lot of women players who wear sleeveless tops or tank tops. Such clothing is the most comfortable and provides maximum mobility.

While some pickleball tops include spandex as a base material, you should go for the ones in which polyester is the dominant material. Spandex based tops are often guilty of being too tight. However, if you really want to, you can wear cotton tops as well, though I would not recommend it. If you love cotton, then make sure you choose tank tops.

Here are the recommendations I have for you!

Mens Pickleball Shorts

As I mentioned earlier, pickleball apparel is very similar to tennis apparel, and shorts are no different. You can play tennis and pickleball and tennis both with the same pair of shorts. Anyways, I would definitely recommend having separate pairs of shorts for different sports. Purchasing specific shorts for pickleball means that you are more committed to the game.

Like shirts, most pickleball shorts are also made of polyester. Cotton shorts are also popular among some players, but again, polyester is the better option to choose from. If you can’t find polyester shorts, then go with cotton shorts. However, make sure that you don’t wear too long shorts while playing pickleball. Long shorts are not suitable for pickleball or tennis at all. Moving is more difficult in long shorts or pants. Even if you see someone playing pickleball in basketball pants, don’t take any inspiration!

Here are the pickleball shorts I have sorted out for male players.

Womens Pickleball Skirts, Skorts & Shorts

Women pickleball players can play the game wearing womens shorts, but skirts or skorts are more popular. Skirts or skorts gives a bit more of a polished look to women pickleball players. Like shorts, skirts and skorts are also mostly made of polyester. When it comes to skorts, the inner part is made of spandex in most cases.

Female players do seem to prefer skorts over skirts for various reasons, but comfort is the biggest reason for this preference. Skorts are basically a combination of skirts and shorts. They look like skirts, but have shorts sewn in underneath.

Here are some of my recommendations for women pickleball shorts, skirts and skorts for female pickleball players.

Pickleball Gloves

I’ll be very honest, pickleball gloves are not mandatory equipment for playing well. In fact, lots of professional players play very well without gloves. The reason why pickleball gloves have made it onto our pickleball equipment list is because more and more pickleballers are seen wearing gloves and there is a good reason for it.

The reason for wear pickleball gloves is the same as wrapping grip tape around your pickleball paddle handle, sweat and comfort. A good pair of gloves makes sure that even if your palms are sweaty, your game won’t be affected. On top of that, if a match goes on for too long, your palm or fingers might start to blister from holding the paddle for extended periods of time. Wearing gloves will help you not to lose your edge when your opponent is a very difficult player and the game is expected to go down to the wire.

Gloves Material

The base material of pickleball gloves is leather. More expensive options come with thick sheepskin leather, while the affordable gloves are made of thin leather. The technology used to make the leather palms is known as gripster. As you can guess from the name, this technology emphasizes a lot on firm grip and control over your paddle handle.

Choose a pair of gloves that fits your hands well. If the gloves are loose, your palms will move a lot inside them. As a result, you will get irritated and feel like throwing them away. depending on your comfort, go for full finger or open gloves. I personally like open finger gloves more than full finger ones. I believe open finger gloves provide as much grip as full finger gloves, despite giving a bit more breathing space for the fingers. However, if your fingers sweat, then I think full finger gloves would be a much better choice for you.

Before purchasing gloves, make sure that you are not allergic to any material that has been used to manufacture the product of your choice.

Here are the gloves I like.

Pickleball Caps & Visors

If you only play pickleball indoors, then there is not that much need for caps or visors. However, if you love to play outdoors in sunshine, then not only will a good cap or visor save you from the scorching heat & sun, but will also improve your performance. To win more points, you have to see the ball clearly. You might lose sight of the ball because of sun if you are playing an afternoon  or early game. In cases like these, caps and visors come in very handy.

In some cases, caps and visors can make it really comfortable for you by not letting sweat drip down your forehead. If you have to clean the sweat off your forehead from time to time during your match, you might lose your concentration which could lose you the match. For serious players, such small things matter a lot. That’s why you’ll see most pickleball players wearing headgear when they take part in competitive tournaments. No wonder we had to include caps and visors in your list of pickleball equipment & accessories; otherwise it would’ve been incomplete.

Now it’s time for the recommendations!

Pickleball Eye Protection Equipment

This is another must-have piece of pickleball equipment for pickleball lovers. Pickleball players wear pickleball eye protection for exactly that reason,  to protect their eyes from rogue balls. Though pickleballs are not that heavy, they can still pack a punch if you get hit directly by one in the eye. Even some professional players have suffered serious injuries due to incidents like this.

While accidents are not regular occurrences, all it takes is one incident to permanently affect your eyesight. Another reason for wearing pickleball glasses  is that you need glasses to see the ball clearly. If you are playing under bright sunlight, you might lose sight of the ball if your side of the court is facing the sun. Even if you don’t face any issues seeing the ball clearly, it is not good for your eyes to directly look at the sun which is why some pickleball eye protection glasses are tinted.

Importance Of Shatterproof Lenses

Pickleball glasses come in different styles and colors. You are free to choose the style that suits you, but make sure the lenses are shatterproof. If a rogue ball hits weak lenses, they might shatter and severely damage your eyes. Such glasses are more dangerous than wearing none at all. The frame should be high impact resistant as well, for the same reason.

Here are some pickleball glasses that fit the bill perfectly.

Pickleball Sweatbands

Though caps or visors will give some protection against sweat, that is not their main purpose. On the other hand, you do need a piece of pickleball equipment that’s designed especially to help with your sweaty hands & forehead, right? I have already explained how sweat can affect your performance, so you should take the necessary measures to deal with this problem. It has a very easy solution, sweatbands.

Why You Need A Sweatband

As the name suggests, sweatbands are there for sweat control. Wear headbands & wristbands on your head and wrists if you sweat a lot, or live in an area with high humidity. Sweatbands will not let sweat make your hands slippery or your face wet. There is nothing worse than your eyes burning from sweat running down your forehead & into your eyes or your pickleball paddle slipping out of your hand or twisting in your hand due to sweaty hands. With good quality sweatbands, you will be able to play long games without having to get irritated by sweat coming in the way.

Most sweatbands are made of towel cloths, and rightly so. Towel cloth is best for sweat resistance. You may also wear cotton sweatbands too if it is more convenient for you, but it’s just a personal prefernce thing with sweatbands. Anyways, make sure you don’t wear sweatbands that are too loose or too tight, they will do more harm than good.

Here are some great picks for you!

Socks

I think it’s pretty obvious that you’ll need socks by default if you are to wearing shoes when you’re playing a sport. Two things to consider when choosing socks for playing pickleball: comfort and fit. Personally I prefer crew-cut socks, like tennis. Like most sports, pickleball is yet to have its own dedicated socks specifically manufactured for the sport of pickleball, so you’ll have to do with the best tennis socks for now. Anyways, don’t choose socks with fabric or material you are allergic to & pick the right size sock as well. This  so that your feet don’t move inside the socks. The material should be sweat resistant. Cotton socks are mostly popular for this purpose.

Here are the recommendations!

Sports Water Bottles

For any sport that involves a lot of physical activity you must have some water or other liquid to keep hydrated & replenish the fluids you’re losing. No matter how confident you are of your stamina, staying hydrated is a must. You will fall ill if you play demanding sports like pickleball without getting yourself properly hydrated. That’s why you need a good quality sport water bottle.

Water bottles are a very important pickleball accessory that are not just for carrying water, as you can also carry saline, smoothies, electrolyte shakes and drinks etc. in your bottle. It is not recommended to drink water from someone else’s bottle, as you might get in contact with germs that are harmful to you but not them. During the times we live in with the Covid pandemic I’m sure everyone will agree that sharing water bottled is a big no-no. Buy your own water bottle, they are not very expensive as well!

Here are some affordable, but good quality water bottles.

Pickleball Towels

The debate will rage over whether pickleball is not as physically demanding as tennis, but it’s a fact that pickleball can make you exhausted during a game. Returning shots after shots is no joke, and it is normal to get tired and sweaty. Towels will help you to get rid of the sweat that pours over your head, face and arms. You can also put your towel over your head to get some protection from the sun while resting if you are playing outdoors.

Sport First Aid Kits

The possibility of getting injured while playing pickleball is pretty slim, but you have to be careful while playing any kind of sports. This is why sport first aid kits are on the list of pickleball equipment that everyone should have handy. Keeping a first aid kit with you never hurts, rather it helps you when ‘it hurts’, pun intended. You don’t need a professional medic level first aid kit, but some precautionary equipment is mandatory.

Here are the picks I’d recommend:

Pickleball Paddle Holder / Rack

A Pickleball Paddle Holder, also known as a Pickleball Paddle Rack, is a device to help busy Pickleball courts control whose turn is next when Pickleball players are waiting to get onto the busy courts. The fact the Pickleball has become incredibly popular in the USA & around the world over the last few years means that queuing to get onto a busy Pickleball court is a regular occurrence. Pickleball paddle holders or Racks are usually attached to the fence surrounding the Pickleball courts. Pickleball players place their paddle in a slot which is moved along the queue until the paddle reaches the front of the queue. The owner of the paddle knows his turn is next when his paddle is in the front of the “paddle queue”. Pickleball paddle holder racks have prevented plenty of arguments between Pickleball players the world over :-)

Here are a couple of Pickleball Paddle Holder recommendations:

Pickleball Ball Hoppers

Like tennis, you’ll need a lot of balls to complete a game of pickleball. Also, if you are willing to take part in intense practice sessions, having a lot of pickleballs at your disposal is a must. You do need to keep all these balls somewhere though, and this is where ball hoppers chip in.

An ideal pickleball ball hopper can contain at least 50 balls. It must be easy to move around the court too. Though there are some dedicated pickleball ball hoppers in the market, tennis ball hoppers can do the trick as well. I’ve also included ball collectors under this category of pickleball equipment because they often serve the same purpose.

Here are the ball hoppers I would recommend.

Pickleball Machine

This piece of pickleball equipment is for enthusiastic players who want to practice even when they don’t have someone to join them on the pickleball court. Pickleball machines are for practicing your shots and returns. You won’t find human players every time you go to practice, and not everyone would just want to practice instead of playing full games. Ball machines can be your perfect practice companions. Moreover, ball machines will be able to help you improve certain kinds of shots by launching the ball at you at a certain angle and bounce. Human players won’t be able to do that consistently.

Here is the pickleball machines to help you make your choice.

Tennis Court Squeegee

Pickleball is played both indoors & outdoors. Outdoor Pickleball play has increased considerably due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lower risks associated with outdoor activities compared to indoor sports.

There are challenges faced when playing an outdoor sport because the players are at the mercy of the weather. It’s unfortunate when your regular pickleball game is affected by rain, but honestly it’s downright frustrating when the rain has stopped, but you’re unable to play due to a wet pickleball court.

Solution For Wet Pickleball Courts

This is where a tennis court squeegee comes to the rescue! You’re basically able to mop up the excess rain water that is lying on the pickleball court which would make it too dangerous to play. Let’s face it, just the thought of slipping on a wet patch on the pickleball court is enough to prevent you from fully enjoying your game, let alone the fact that you could really seriously injure yourself if you did indeed slip.

This handy piece of Pickleball equipment will help get you on the court as soon as possible after a rain storm or a shower.

Here are my recommendations for the best tennis court squeegees:

Conclusion

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States and when you see the passion and enthusiasm of pickleballers it’s easy to understand why. With thousands of new people being introduced to the sport of pickleball every year it means that there are thousands of people needing guidance on what pickleball equipment they need to be the best pickleball player they can be.
