is badminton a good workout

If you’re looking for a fun and energetic workout that gets your heart pumping and strengthens your muscles, then look no further than badminton!

This social and dynamic sport has been enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels for decades. Not only is badminton a great way to stay active, but it also offers a multitude of health benefits that might surprise you. So, is badminton a good workout? Let’s find out!

Cardiovascular Health

First and foremost, badminton is a fantastic cardiovascular workout. Engaging in regular cardiovascular activities is crucial for maintaining a healthy heart. The fast-paced nature of the game requires constant movement, agility and quick reflexes. Whether you’re competing in singles or doubles, you’ll find yourself darting across the court, lunging, jumping, and reaching for the shuttlecock. This helps elevate your heart rate, improves your blood circulation, enhances lung capacity, and helps improve your endurance.

Full-Body Workout

Badminton is not just about those lightning-fast racket skills and powerful smashes. It’s a sport that engages your entire body, making it a fantastic full-body workout. The quick and repetitive movements involved in swinging the racket in badminton strokes help strengthen your upper body, especially your shoulders, back, arms, and chest muscles. Additionally, the continuous movement of your feet, jumping, changing direction and the lunging movements work wonders for your lower body, improving your leg and core strength.

Agility And Flexibility

badminton good workoutBadminton demands quick reflexes and rapid changes in direction, improving your agility and coordination. The fast-paced nature of the game requires rapid changes in direction, quick footwork, and lightning-fast reactions. Constantly reaching and lunging for the shuttlecock will enhance your flexibility, as it requires frequent lunging, stretching and bending. Flexibility not only helps prevent injuries during the game but also in your day-to-day activities, making badminton a great way to enhance overall mobility.

Weight Loss

If you want to exercise to lose a few extra pounds, then badminton can be an excellent weight-loss activity. Playing badminton for an hour can burn hundreds of calories, depending on your intensity level. The continuous movement and the variation in strokes help engage multiple muscle groups throughout your body, raise your heart rate, and so help you lose weight.

Mental Well-Being

Another notable benefit of badminton is its positive impact on mental well-being. Exercise not only benefits the body but also has a positive impact on our mental health.  Engaging in physical activity releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones, which reduce stress and anxiety. So, when you step onto that badminton court, you’re not just exercising your body but also boosting your mental well-being. Engaging in regular physical activity, such as playing badminton, has been proven to boost mood, reduce stress levels, and promote better sleep.

Boosts Mental Focus

Badminton is not just physically demanding; it also requires a high level of mental focus. You need to strategize, anticipate your opponent’s moves, and make split-second decisions. It’s like a game of chess but with more running and sweat! Regularly engaging in badminton can enhance your concentration, sharpen your mind, and improve your cognitive abilities.

Social And Fun

badminton workoutOne of the best things about badminton is that it’s a social sport. You can play it with friends, family, or even join local clubs to meet fellow badminton players. Exercising in a social setting not only makes the experience more enjoyable but also provides accountability and motivation. Plus, the friendly banter and laughter exchanged during matches will keep your spirits high and make your workouts feel less like a chore.

The social aspect of the sport is also a mood enhancer, as it allows you to connect and bond with friends or family members while having fun on the court. So not only are you getting fit, but you’re also cultivating a healthy mind and building meaningful relationships.

Suitable For All Fitness Levels

One of the greatest advantages of badminton is its inclusivity. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced level badminton player, badminton can be adapted to suit your fitness level. You can start at a leisurely pace and gradually increase the intensity as you become more comfortable with the sport. Plus, badminton offers different playing formats, such as singles and doubles, allowing you to play according to your preferences and abilities.

Not Weather Dependent

Badminton is a sport that can easily be played both indoors and outdoors. So whether you prefer the controlled environment of an indoor court or the fresh air and sunshine of an outdoor setting, you have the flexibility to choose what suits you best. This accessibility makes badminton an excellent workout option all year round, regardless of the weather.

How To Choose A Badminton Racket. The Easy To Follow Guide!

how to choose a badminton racket

Welcome to our easy to follow guide on how to choose the right badminton racket for you! Whether you’re an experienced player or a beginner, finding the perfect racket can greatly enhance your game. It will also elevate your performance on the court and improve overall enjoyment of the game.

With the wide variety of options available, we understand that the process can be overwhelming. In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to make an informed decision when selecting your badminton racket. So, let’s dive in!

Determine Your Playing Style

Before embarking on your quest for the ideal badminton racket, it’s important to understand your playing style. Are you an aggressive attacker who loves smashing the shuttlecock, a defensive player relying on quick reflexes and control, or perhaps a balanced all-rounder?

Identifying your playing style will help you narrow down your options and find a racket that complements your strengths on the court.

Consider Your Level of Experience

Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced badminton player, the right racket can make a world of difference. Newcomers to the sport should opt for a racket that offers more control and forgiveness with a larger sweet spot and a flexible shaft to help generate power.

Experienced players might prefer a racket that provides less power, but more control and feel. Understanding your skill level will guide you towards choosing a racket that suits your needs and abilities.

String Tensionbadminton racket string tension

The string tension of your racket can affect your shot accuracy and the feel of each stroke. Higher tension provides more control and accuracy but sacrifices power. Lower tension offers more power but can be less precise.

Beginners should usually have higher tension racket strings, while advanced badminton players should consider lower tension strings. Consider your playing style and skill level when deciding on the appropriate string tension for your racket.

Badminton Racket Balance Point

A badminton racket’s balance point is located along its shaft. This is the point at which you can balance your racket on your finger. You feel every racket differently because of its balance point.

The three balance classes are Head-Heavy, Head-Light, and Even Balance. These balance classes don’t indicate the racket’s weight. It is rather a helpful indicator of where most of the weight is actually situated within the racket. Lets briefly look at these three balance classes:

Head Heavy Badminton Racket

A head-heavy racket is often referred to as a power racket. This is because it gives you more power when hitting badminton shots, but it also slows down your recovery time. When you choose a racket that is head heavy, you are likely to sacrifice speed for power. The majority of the graphite in head heavy rackets is positioned closer to the head. This increases power for smashes and clears, but reduces swing speed for front court and midcourt play.

If you generally play from the rear court and are an aggressive badminton player, head heavy badminton racquets may be suitable for you.

Do you enjoy smashing, play singles or attack from the back of the court in doubles, then you should consider choosing a Head Heavy racket.

It may be quite physical demanding to play badminton with a Head Heavy badminton racquet if you are a beginner, so it’s no the ideal type of racket for beginners.

Head Light Badminton Racket

Doubles is a much more popular game type than singles, so Head Light badminton rackets are better suited for most club players. Players who prefer control or a speed advantage in their game may benefit from Head Light badminton racquets.

As you swing the racket, it feels lighter because more weight is distributed at the handle. As a result of the head and frame being lighter, head-light rackets are much easier to handle and swing. The ability to react quickly and return opposing smashes is crucial when defending against smashes.

Also, Head-Light rackets are much more useful for finishing rallies at the front of the court when playing shots at the net.

The Head-Light racket is a great choice for players who specialize in driving, attacking, and fast badminton, or are excellent singles players with great swing speed and technique.

Even Balance Badminton Racket

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, the even balance Badminton racket is very easy to use.

An Even-Balance racket aims to provide a middleground between a Head-Heavy and a Head-Light racket. It gives you enough power from the back and enough control & maneuverability up front.

With its evenly distributed weight, this badminton racquet is perfect for all round players due to its ability to generate power and maintain excellent control.

The Even-Balance racket is the best choice if you don’t know whether you’ll play at the net or at the back. This is because it can handle all kinds of shots. As most regular players carry multiple rackets for different scenarios, even-balance rackets are excellent for developing an all-around game if you are looking to start playing.

Having an even balanced racquet can help you perform at your best if your game involves a mixture of clears, drops, and smashes.

For more advanced players or those who play singles and doubles frequently, you may also consider purchasing an even-balanced racket to offer you something that can help in all scenarios.

Grip Sizebadminton racket grip size

Having the right grip size is often overlooked but is an essential aspect of choosing a badminton racket. The grip should feel comfortable and secure in your hand, allowing you to maintain a firm hold during intense rallies.

Having the right grip size ensures a comfortable and secure hold on the racket. A grip that is too small can result in a loss of control, while a grip that is too large can lead to fatigue. It’s important to find the right balance.

Additionally, consider the shape of the grip, oval or octagonal, based on your personal preference. A grip that is too large or too small can negatively impact your performance and lead to discomfort or even injury. Experiment with different grip sizes to find the one that suits you best.

Badminton Racket Stiffness Rating

There is a stiffness rating for each badminton racket that determines how easily the shaft bends. Yonex badminton rackets generally fall into four categories: Flexible, Medium, Stiff, and Extra Stiff.

For players with quicker, more advanced swing speeds and techniques, stiffer rackets are better suited to better control over the shuttlecock. The flexible shaft in flexible rackets generates more power with less effort. So they are better suited to players with slower swing speeds. Rackets with stiff shafts are typically preferred by advanced players, while those with flexible shafts are preferred by beginners.

Badminton Racket Weight

Weight classes for badminton rackets are indicated by the letter ‘U’. In general, badminton rackets weigh between 80 and 95 grams.

Skilled players usually prefer heavier rackets. In addition to accumulating more momentum, heavier rackets transfer optimal speed and power to the shuttlecock.

It is better for beginners to use lightweight rackets as they are easier on their wrists and shoulders. They are also easier to control. Club and social players can perform faster serves with lighter rackets, allowing them to switch to different strokes easily.

Today, the most common badminton rackets on the market are 3U (85-89 g) and 4U (80-84 g).

Conclusion

Choosing the best badminton racket is a personal journey, but armed with the knowledge and tips we’ve shared, you’re now equipped to make an informed decision. Remember to consider your playing style, experience level, stiffness rating, weight, balance, grip size and string tension. With the right racket in hand, you’ll be ready to excel on the badminton court and enjoy the game to the fullest. Wilson Blue Bullet Racquetball Ball Reviews

The Wilson Blue Bullet Racquetball Balls are excellent racquetball balls for beginners or those who play racquetball socially with friends or only  occasionally.

In testing this ball for a week, I played a total of fifteen games. I would classify the Wilson Blue Bullet Racquetball ball as a medium speed ball. I felt like I had plenty of time to get to the ball, which is ideal for beginner racquetball players who are still getting used to the bounce of a racquetball ball and need more time to position themselves to play their shots.

Although I only used the ball for a week, I didn’t notice any significant wear of the Wilson Blue Bullet Racquetball ball. I asked other players who have used this ball for a lengthy period and they confirmed that this is a durable ball.

Of the three beginner blue racquetball balls I tested, the Wilson Blue Bullet Racquetball ball was my favorite and I would recommend it to beginner players. It had consistent bounce and was clearly visible on the indoor courts that I played on. It’s reputation for good durability is also a big plus for beginners who don’t want to have the expense of replacing their racquetball balls too often.

Gearbox Blue Racquetball Ball Reviews

Gearbox is a renowned brand in the racquetball world, known for producing high-quality equipment. The Gearbox Blue Racquetball balls are no exception.

I tested the Gearbox Blue Racquetball balls for ten days and found that this is a medium speed ball with consistent bounce. I found it to be slightly faster than the Wilson Blue Bullet which I had used prior to switching to this balls, but would still put it in the medium speed category.

Beginner and casual racquetball players would definitely enjoy their racquetball games if they played with this ball, as it gives players more time to play their strokes and move into the correct positions on the court.

In terms of Durability, I could see no visible signs that the Gearbox Blue Racquetball balls would not last a long time, but this can only be determined with use for a longer period of time. I have, however, not heard any complaints about the Gearbox Blue Racquetball ball’s durability from other players.

In terms of affordability, the Gearbox Blue Racquetball Balls offer great value for money. While some racquetball balls on the market may come with a hefty price tag, these balls are reasonably priced without compromising on quality.

Python Blue Racquetball Ball Reviews

I tested the Python Blue Racquetball ball for a period of two weeks, where I played a total of 31 games while using this ball. This is a medium speed ball which would be ideal for beginner and recreational racquetball players.

In terms of visibility, I found that I easily saw this bright blue ball bouncing around while playing on indoor racquetball courts. The fact that it’s a medium speed ball meant that I had more time to not only get into position to play my shots, but it was also easier to track the ball bouncing around the court. Out of all the medium speed beginner blue racquetball balls, the Python Blue Racquetball ball was the slowest.

In terms of durability, this is the least durable of the beginner blue racquetball balls I tested. I found that after two weeks there were some scuff marks, which wasn’t the case for the other blue racquetball balls I tested.

The Python Blue Racquetball ball is my third choice recommendation for a beginner racquetball ball.

Gearbox Black Racquetball Ball Review

I tested the Gearbox Black Racquetball Balls for ten days and I can honestly say that this is the best black racquetball ball I have played with.

The Gearbox Black Racquetball ball is a slow ball which is ideal for senior players. I found that the slow speed of the Gearbox Black Racquetball Balls definitely promotes longer rallies because the players have ample time to get into the ideal position to play their shots. Obviously, intermediate to advanced level players would find the slow bounce very frustrating, but seniors who do not move particularly fast around the court, this slow ball would give them a more enjoyable playing experience.

For seniors, who might be on a limited retirement budget, this ball is also very durable. This means that the Gearbox Black Racquetball balls last longer, so you don’t have to replace your balls too often. It is also quite an affordable black racquetball ball too.

I found the black color was visible enough on the indoor courts I played on, but I think that if these balls were fast, rather than slow bouncing balls, then it might have been a problem to see them.

All in all, this is an excellent slow, black racquetball ball which is ideal for seniors who want to have an enjoyable racquetball playing experience and is highly recommended.

Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball Ball Review

I tested the Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball Balls for two weeks on mostly outdoor racquetball courts and this is an awesome red racquetball ball.

The Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball Balls are fast balls which are great for outdoor use by intermediate to advanced racquetball players who want a ball that has consistent bounce.

I played five games on an indoor court and twenty five games on an outdoor court. In terms of visibility, the Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball ball wasn’t as easy to see on the indoor courts as it was on the outdoor courts. With the fast speed of the ball, the color was easy to track and play my shots on the outdoor court. Although I could see the ball on the indoor courts, it felt like it was more streaky in terms of visibility.

The Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball Balls felt heavier off the face of the racquetball racquet than the blue or black balls, but I think that it’s not the weight of the ball but rather the speed at which the ball hits the racquet strings.

In terms of durability, the balls were surprisingly durable considering that they are fast balls that bounce around the court at a higher speed than blue or black balls. They did seem to be less durable on the outdoor courts, but that’s understandable based on the court surfaces.

I would recommend the Ektelon Fireball Red Racquetball Balls as the best fast red racquetball balls to be used mostly on outdoor courts.

The Dunlop Frontenis Yellow Racquetball Balls are slow racquetball balls which are good for beginners to the sport of racquetball or seniors who are not very speedy around the court.

I found that the slow speed of this Dunlop Frontenis Yellow Racquetball ball gives you plenty of time to move around the court and get into position to play your strokes. However, intermediate or advanced level racquetball players would find the slow pace off-putting and frustrating due to the slow pace of the games.

The Dunlop Frontenis Yellow Racquetball balls are highly visible on both indoor and outdoor racquetball courts due to their slow speed and bright yellow color.

In terms of slow racquetball balls, I preferred the black racquetball balls more than the yellow one’s. However, I must say that seniors who might not have the best eyesight could benefit from the bright yellow color for visibility.

The Dunlop Frontenis Yellow Racquetball Balls seem to be quite durable. Although I only tested this ball for seven days, I didn’t see any visible signs of wear and tear.

If you wanted to play with a slow yellow racquetball ball, the Dunlop Frontenis Yellow Racquetball Balls are the one’s I would recommend.

Racquetball Ball Rules

It’s obvious that without a Racquetball ball it would be impossible to play a game of Racquetball. To ensure that it’s fair for all players, there are certain specifications which Racquetball balls must meet in order to be classified as a Racquetball ball.

Racquetball Ball Dimensions

Racquetball balls are designed to meet specific standards set by the International Racquetball Federation (IRF). These standards ensure fair play and consistency across the sport. Let’s take a closer look at the dimensions that define a regulation racquetball ball.

Racquetball Ball Diameter

According to the International Racquetball Federation(IRF) rules, a racquetball ball must have a diameter of 2.25 inches (57.15 mm). This size is carefully measured by the ball manufacturers to provide optimal performance during gameplay. The standardized diameter allows players to anticipate the ball’s movement accurately, enhancing their overall skill and control on the court.

Racquetball Ball Weight

In addition to diameter, the weight of a racquetball ball is also regulated. A regulation ball should weigh 1.4 ounces (40 grams). This weight strikes a balance between being light enough for quick and agile gameplay, while also maintaining sufficient momentum for powerful shots. The uniform weight ensures that every player experiences a consistent feel when playing with different balls.

Racquetball Ball Material

Rubber is the most commonly used material in racquetball balls. It offers a good balance of durability, bounce, and feel. Balls made from rubber are known for their consistent performance and excellent grip, allowing players to generate optimal power and control.

Racquetball Ball Speedracquetball balls

In the fast-paced world of racquetball, speed is everything. The faster the ball travels, the more challenging the game becomes. Whether you’re a beginner looking to improve your skills or a seasoned player aiming to dominate the court, understanding the dynamics of racquetball ball speed is essential.

The speed of a racquetball ball is determined by various factors, including the power of the player’s shot, the type of racquet used, the type of ball used and the condition of the ball itself. Let’s dive deeper into these factors and explore how they contribute to the thrill of high-speed racquetball.

Player’s Shot Power

One of the primary factors influencing ball speed is the power behind the player’s shot. A strong, well-executed swing generates more force, resulting in a faster ball speed. It’s crucial for players to develop proper technique, incorporating their entire body into each shot. This includes utilizing core muscles, legs, and arms to maximize power output. With consistent practice, players can increase their shot power and launch the ball across the court with lightning speed.

Racquet Selection

The type of racquet used also plays a significant role in ball speed. Racquets come in various weights, balance points, and materials, each affecting how the ball responds upon impact. Lighter racquets are generally easier to maneuver, allowing players to generate more racquet head speed and consequently increasing ball speed. However, heavier racquets offer more stability and control, enabling players to accurately place shots. It’s essential to find a racquet that strikes a balance between power and control to optimize ball speed.

Ball Type

The type of racquetball ball used can have a significant impact on its speed. Racquetball balls are typically made of rubber, but variations in density and composition can alter their speed. Black and Yellow racquetball balls are the slowest balls, blue balls are medium speed balls, while red balls are fast and purple balls are the fastest.

Ball Condition

How Long Do Racquetball Balls Last? Factors To Consider!

how long do racquetball balls last

When it comes to Racquetball, having the right equipment is essential for optimal performance on the court. Racquetball is a fast-paced and exhilarating sport that requires excellent control and agility.

Whether you’re a casual player or a seasoned pro, one thing that can greatly impact your game is the condition of your equipment. And at the heart of this fast-paced sport is the racquetball ball itself. But have you ever wondered how long Racquetball balls actually last? We’ll delve into the factors that need to be considered and we’ll answer this question about the key equipment that keeps the game in motion.

How Long Does A Racquetball Ball Last?

So, how long do racquetball balls actually last? The lifespan of a racquetball ball can vary depending on various factors, such as the frequency of use, playing conditions, and the quality of the ball itself. Let’s delve deeper into these factors to give you a better understanding.

Factors Affecting The Lifespan Of Racquetball Balls

Racquetball balls are made from a rubber compound, a material known for its elasticity and durability. However, even the most robust racquetball balls will eventually show signs of aging and lose their performance over time. On average, racquetball balls can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on various factors. Now we’ll talk about those factors that affect how long these balls last.

Frequency Of Use

The more frequently you play racquetball, the shorter the lifespan of your racquetball balls. Regular use causes the balls to wear down due to the impact and friction with the walls and the racquets of players. If you’re a dedicated Racquetball player who hits the court several times a week, you may find yourself needing to replace your balls more frequently.

Playing Conditions

The playing conditions also play a crucial role in determining how long racquetball balls last. If you mostly play on outdoor courts, the balls are exposed to various elements like dirt, moisture, heat and sunlight, which can degrade their quality. Outdoor play can cause the balls to lose their bounce and become less lively over time. On the other hand, if you play exclusively indoors, the controlled environment may help prolong the lifespan of your balls.

Ball Quality

Not all racquetball balls are created equal. The quality of the ball itself can greatly affect its durability. The quality of racquetball balls can vary depending on the brand and manufacturing process. Higher-quality balls are often more durable and can withstand more intense gameplay. Investing in premium balls might save you money in the long run. High-quality balls are typically made from a durable rubber compound. Cheaper, low-quality balls may wear out faster and lose their bounce more quickly due to inferior materials and workmanship used. Investing in good-quality racquetball balls can help extend your balls lifespan and actually provide a better playing experience.

Storage Conditions

Proper storage is crucial for prolonging the lifespan of racquetball balls. Exposing them to extreme temperatures, either cold or hot, or leaving them in direct sunlight can impact their durability. It’s recommended to store your balls in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Racquetball Ball Maintenance

Regularly clean your balls with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris that may affect their performance. By cleaning your balls after each use, you will prolong the lifespan of your balls.

Signs That It’s Time To Replace Your Racquetball Ballshow long does a racquetball ball last

Knowing when to replace your racquetball balls is very important for playing fair and enjoyable games of Racquetball. Here are a few signs that could show that it’s time for a new set of balls:

Loss Of Bounce

As racquetball balls age, they lose their bounce. If you notice that your balls aren’t bouncing as high as they used to or if they feel flat, it’s a clear sign that they need replacing.

Visible Damage

Inspect your balls regularly for any visible signs of damage, such as holes, cracks, cuts, or very rough patches. These can affect the ball’s performance and can be a clear sign that it’s time to retire your ball and replace it with a new ball.

Faded Color

Over time, racquetball balls can lose their vibrant color. While a faded color may not directly impact their performance, it does give you an indication that you may be aging and that you should be taking a closer look at the ball for defects described above. It can make them more difficult to see during a fast-paced game. If you maintain and clean your balls regularly this is less likely to occur though.

So How Long Do Racquetball Balls Last?

On average, a racquetball ball can last anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the factors mentioned above. If you notice that your balls are losing their bounce, becoming scuffed, or showing signs of wear and tear, it’s probably time to replace them.

To ensure that your balls last as long as possible, there are a few simple maintenance tips you can follow. First, make sure to store your balls in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Exposure to heat and moisture can accelerate the degradation of the rubber.

Conclusion

The lifespan of racquetball balls can vary depending on factors such as frequency of use, playing conditions, storage conditions, ball maintenance, and the quality of the balls. It’s important to keep an eye on the condition of your balls and replace them as needed to make sure that you continue to have a good playing experience. By following proper maintenance practices, you can extend the lifespan of your racquetball balls and get the most out of your balls.

Remember, replacing your  balls regularly will not only improve your performance but also maintain an enjoyable playing experience. Badminton racket & shuttlecock by portable badminton net set

Many people are under the mistaken impression that you need to join a badminton club to play this awesome sport. After all, badminton does need a court with a net in the middle, right?

However, it is actually loads of fun for you to play badminton in your own backyard or at the local park if you have your own badminton net. In fact, if you have a portable badminton net then you can even play badminton with friends & family during your weekend trips to the beach.

All you need to do is to purchase one of the best portable badminton nets that suits your needs.  Take a look at all our Equipment for Badminton recommendations which is a comprehensive guide to show you what you need to enjoy badminton to the fullest.

Portable badminton nets come with light, adjustable stands. Some portable badminton nets can even be turned into a tennis or volleyball net. Many badminton sets include a portable badminton racket or even a set of two or four badminton rackets as well as shuttlecocks.

However, you should not expect the same level of workmanship and quality as a regular professional net from a portable badminton net. To achieve portability, these badminton sets need to be adapted accordingly. Keeping that in mind, let’s have a look at the recommendations of the best portable badminton net sets that I have for you.

Boulder Portable Badminton Net Set

CHECK PRICE

The first thing you need from your portable badminton net is being able to set it up within minutes. I found the Boulder Portable Net Set incredibly easy to set up with the help of a friend. It only took us five minutes to set it up and start playing. If you are wanting to get your kids a portable badminton net set to entertain themselves while bored, then this is a great option. It doesn’t require complicated instructions & even children will find it extremely easy to set up.

The adjustable height of the Boulder Portable Net Set ranges from 34 to 60 inches. That is quite a big range and gives you the ability to enjoy volleyball, pickleball and tennis if you are not in the mood to play a game of badminton. I only tested the net as a badminton net, but it seems easy to adjust the net height if you want to use it for any of the other sports mentioned.

Quality

The quality of the net is pretty decent in my opinion. Boulder obviously wants this net to last long and I was impressed with how they painted steel over nylon to ensure lifetime durability. They also claim that the net posts are rust resistant. I haven’t had the net long enough to vouch for that claim. I can, however, see that it looks very durable.

Did I mention that this set comes with a bag as well? It makes it very easy to carry this badminton net set around or store it when not in use.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Boulder portable badminton net. It’s great if you were looking for a durable, high quality badminton net that you wanted to last many fun filled years.

CHECK PRICE

This is a portable badminton net has one distinct difference to all but one of the other portable badminton nets we’ve reviewed & that is that it does not have any poles. When I heard about it for the first time, I was quite skeptical. To be honest I did not like the design at all. But after playing a few matches with this portable net, I can confidently say that this unique design actually works!

Four portable badminton rackets, a net, and shuttlecocks are all included in the EastPoint Sports portable badminton net set. With everything you need to play badminton, it makes it simple to get started. This practical set also comes with storage for all accessories in its base. It can be put together quickly and without the use of any special tools. This recreational, portable badminton net set is easy to set up and take down. It’s also great for both newbies to the sport of badminton and seasoned players, and is stylish and effective.

Design

The Easton Sports portable badminton net is among the better badminton net designs I’ve ever seen. To begin with, the instructions were simple and easy to understand. The structure was simple to assemble. When it was finished, I was struck by how beautifully straightforward the design was. This set may be utilized on a hard surface, such a cement driveway, in addition to a lawn or a beach. This is what most people are looking for in a portable badminton net set. The fact that it totally disassembles and transforms into a carrying case for all the components, is what makes the design truly brilliant. This is a great option for those looking for an awesome portable badminton net set.

Pros & Cons of the EastPoint Sports Portable Badminton Net Set

Pros

Baden Champions Series Portable Badminton Net Set

CHECK PRICE

The Baden Champions Series portable badminton net set is a good quality badminton net set. The metal posts are strong yet lightweight, and they have a protective coating to prevent damage caused by the weather. Strong, long-lasting tension cording is used to make the rope and netting. The material doesn’t tangle, so no more frustration in this regard.  The portable badminton rackets provide the ideal amount of firmness and bounce. They seem sturdy enough to take abuse from overzealous children who are having their first backyard badminton game.

The carry case is made of a good quality material. This is ideal to keep all the badminton set equipment together for storage or transporting to the park or beach.  For such a simple case, the material is remarkably durable. The birdies were excellent as well. Although I have seen reports that some users have complained about their shuttlecocks splitting after being used for a while.

The net alone is definitely worth the money. It took me and a friend around 5 minutes to set up. This makes it a great option if you decide on the spur of the moment to play during a family barbeque.

The tension on the two tethers at each end of the net keeps the net from driving into the ground. Instead, its posts sit on the surface. The tethers are anchored into the ground in four locations using metal stakes, which I found effective.

All in all, this is a great badminton net set to purchase if you want to have a portable badminton net set that will last, but don’t want to break the bank.

Pros & Cons of the Baden Champions Series Badminton Net Set

Pros
  • Good Quality Net

  • Easy To Set Up

  • Great Bag Included For Storage And Transport

Franklin Sports Portable Badminton Net Set

CHECK PRICE

The Franklin Sports portable badminton net set couldn’t be used for competitive or professional badminton matches, but is an ideal badminton set for backyard or recreational badminton games.

When testing this set I could find no major faults with this badminton net set, considering the price point. Although it does require two people, setup is quick and simple. It took us less than 15 minutes with a rubber mallet to knock in the stakes.

Excellent quality rackets are included, which was a pleasant surprise considering the price of this badminton set. Everything is packaged in a convenient carrying case for transport to the beach or your local park

Even though there are just two birdies included, they are enough to get started. I must point out that the quality of these badminton shuttlecocks aren’t great so don’t expect them to last long. It’s easy enough to buy replacements when needed though.

Don’t expect a heavy duty net, but rather one that does the job it was designed for. The neon yellow color looks great too.

I had some reservations about the poles being made of plastic, but after using them, I am confident that they are strong and long-lasting.

For those who want to play badminton with their friends and family, but don’t want to spend a lot of money, the Franklin Sports portable badminton net set is a great option. For me, this set meets most of the criteria for the recreational badminton player.

Goplus Portable Badminton Net

CHECK PRICE

The Goplus portable badminton net is a decent option for the price. Please take note that this net is smaller than a regulation size net and is designed for recreational play.

This Goplus net is lightweight, can be assembled quickly, and is relatively strong. It is designed for families and friends who can switch from badminton to volleyball to pickleball with very easy adjustments of the net.

While testing this net it only required to be weighed down once it got substantially windy. This is very convenient if you want to play badminton in your backyard and then move the net to the driveway to play pickleball.

When assembling the net it was very quick because the poles snap together easily because each one contains a bungy cord. With a little assistance, a 10-year-old could set it up.

The net comes with a convenient carry bag which is good for storage and transporting to the beach or park.

Although not wide enough for a proper game of badminton, it is perfect for family entertainment with kids of all ages joining in.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive badminton net and want a smaller one which allows all the kids to play and have fun, then this is definitely a good choice.

Wilson Portable Badminton Set With Net

CHECK PRICE

The Wilson portable badminton set with net is ideal for families and friends to have fun together playing badminton in the backyard or at the beach.

As can be expected of one of the top racket manufacturers in the world, I found the rackets to be of a very high quality for a portable badminton set. The strings of the rackets which I tested were tight enough that they didn’t move after hitting the shuttlecocks with plenty of force. I have found this to be a problem with other portable badminton sets I’ve tested. These usually require repeated adjustment of the strings after each rally.

You can play doubles with the rackets in this badminton set because 4 portable badminton rackets are included in the set. I also found that these rackets are lightweight enough to be used by children. This is obviously very relevant for parents buying a portable badminton set to be enjoyed by the whole family.

The portable badminton rackets, along with the entire portable badminton set come in a compact and handy carry bag that makes it easy to transport and store. Compared to some other badminton set carry bags, the Wilson portable badminton set’s bag is very compact and looks pretty stylish too.

This Wilson badminton set comes with 2 steel poles and stakes that keep the net relatively stable. I do think that strong winds could cause the net to sag, so that needs to be taken into account.

Easy To Set Up

The simplicity of the design makes it incredibly easy to set up to play and take down one the fun is over. It took me and another person about 10 minutes to set up and just 5 minutes to take down.

The only negative aspect of the Wilson badminton set is the shuttlecocks. They are of poor quality and will need to be replaced after a short time. This is a problem with many portable badminton sets, but you can buy good quality replacement shuttlecocks relatively cheaply so it’s not a deal breaker for me.

If you are looking for a portable badminton set which has high quality portable badminton rackets that the whole family can use, an easy to assemble net and good looking carry case then this relatively inexpensive set could be the one for you.

Pros & Cons of the Wilson Portable Badminton Set With Net

Pros
  • Quality Portable Badminton Rackets

  • Easy To Set Up

  • Lightweight

  • Durable

Cons
  • Shuttlecocks In Set Are Poor Quality

Yonex Portable Badminton Net Set

CHECK PRICE

The Yonex portable badminton net set is the ideal beginner set for those wanting to have some fun at the family barbeque or entertainment while at the beach.

Whilst testing this portable badminton set I found the badminton rackets to be of decent quality considering the price point. The net was a bit on the flimsy side and a strong gust of wind would cause problems for this net. The poles that are included in this set are quite thin and this contributes to overall flimsy feel of the net once it’s fully set up.

The badminton shuttlecocks included in this set aren’t professional quality, but I’m sure you wouldn’t expect super high quality badminton birdies at this low price. Low quality shuttlecocks are a common issue with most of the badminton net sets on the market currently. Luckily it’s easy enough to buy decent quality one’s if you plan on playing badminton often.

The set up of the net doesn’t take long at all, especially if you have someone to help you. The carry bag is compact and looks good. This makes it great for transporting the Yonex badminton net set or storing it.

The Yonex badminton net set is probably my least favorite set at this price point, which is a little dissapointing considering what a huge name Yonex is in the world of badminton. It made our list of the best portable badminton sets because it is superior to many low quality sets on the market at this price point.

Pros & Cons of the Yonex Portable Badminton Net Set

Pros
  • Easy To Set Up

  • Good Quality Portable Badminton Rackets Included

  • Lightweight

  • Durable

Cons
  • Poor Quality Badminton Shuttlecocks Included

Zicon Portable Badminton Net Set

CHECK PRICE

If you need a quality portable net, but need a bit more width for your net then you can go with the Zicon Portable Net Set. It is almost identical to the Boulder portable net set, but gives you the ability to have a wider net to play other sports too. While Boulder net sets are 10, 14, or 17 feet wide, the Zicon Portable Net Set comes in 13.5, 16.5, or 20 feet wide versions.

The adjustable height of the Zicon Portable Badminton Net Set ranges from 37 to 63 inches. With this height range, you will be able to easily play other sports that require a net. It pretty much follows the same setup mechanism as the Boulder one, so flexibility won’t be an issue at all.

When testing this net I found it to be really lightweight. As it is foldable, it won’t become a nuisance when carrying it despite being quite long. The manufacturer has also included a carry bag for the users’ convenience. Like other regular nets, it is made of nylon. The poles are made of stainless steel with a coating of black iron. This sort of construction makes it really convenient to take literally anywhere, as the weather will not cause any damage to it.

In many ways the Zicon Portable Badminton Net Set is identical to its Boulder counterpart, so the quality is pretty much the same as well. No wonder both of them have made it onto my list.

Pros & Cons of the Zicon Portable Badminton Net Set

Pros
  • Wide

  • Easy To Set Up

  • Lightweight

  • Adjustable For Different Sports

  • Durable

  • Rust Resistant

Cons
  • A Bit Pricey

CYTBP Portable Badminton Net

CHECK PRICE

Instead of poles, the CYTBP Portable Badminton Net comes with a U shaped frame. The net is supported by the two ends of the base. To install the net, you’ll have to open it, put the two bars through the base, connect the rods in a row and use the hook on the wire to connect the hole on the rod. Even though it sounds a bit complicated, trust me, it does not take long at all. Once you get used to the mechanism, you will be able to set this free standing net up in no time.

The net is made of polyester fiber and PU. The frame contains carbon fiber, stainless steel, and iron. The manufacturer claims this product is drop resistant, rust resistant, and high temperature resistant. Well, I haven’t dropped it or had a game of badminton in the dessert yet, so I can’t confirm these claims but I haven’t had any issues with this net set, considering it’s low price point. This is the best portable badminton net for those on a tight budget.

Pros & Cons of the CYTBP Portable Badminton Net Set

Pros
  • Free Standing

  • Easy To Set Up

  • Rust Resistant

  • Durable

  • Affordable

Cons
  • Net Width Is Pretty Thin

Portable Badminton Net Sets Buying Guide

Badminton is one of the most fun sports to play with friends and family. You can choose to buy a couple of portable badminton rackets and a badminton shuttlecock and just casually hit backwards and forwards to a friend. The more fun and entertaining option is to get a portable Badminton net set. These include everything you might need to transform your backyard or section of beach into a Badminton court. The following section outlines a few things to keep in mind when searching for the best badminton net set to ensure hours of fun.

What Should Be Included In A Portable Badminton Net Set?

If you’ve decided to up your level of Badminton fun and get yourself a Badminton net set, then you need to ensure that the following items are included in the set.

Portable Badminton Rackets

Each badminton net set should contain at least two and up to four rackets. A badminton doubles game requires four rackets, one for each player. So if you want more family members or friends to be involved in each match then doubles might be a good option.

Badminton Shuttlecocks

The Birdies, as the shuttlecocks are also know, are the equivalent to the balls in other racket sports. Without the shuttlecocks there is no badminton game. They are made of plastic or feathers and are designed to glide through the air from one side of the badminton court to the other.

Badminton Net

No portable Badminton net set would be complete without the net separating the two sides of the court. The net is what allows you to play proper games because each player has to hit the shuttlecock over the net when trying to score a point. The recommended nets above show that some nets are held up by poles with ropes and stakes while other nets have a solid base in the middle of the net to hold it up.

Badminton Net Set Carry Case

A durable carry case is an important part of a good portable Badminton net set. A portable badminton net set carry case does not only make transporting your net set easy and convenient, but it also allows you to store all the equipment and components safely when you are not playing.

What To Consider When Choosing A Portable Badminton Net Set

Now that you know what should be included in a good portable Badminton net set, it’s important to know what you need to consider before you make your final decision on which set to choose.

What Are Your Requirements?

The most important thing to take into consideration when choosing a portable badminton net set is what your needs are. Think about how many people will be using the set to decide if you need two portable badminton rackets or four. Decide where you will be playing badminton to decide if space is an issue and if  it will be easier to set it up using poles, ropes and stakes or a solid base. Do you have high winds or other weather conditions which require a sturdier net. Is the portable Badminton net set going to be used for fun for the whole family or will you be using it to practice until you’re good enough to join a Badminton club. Your needs will help you choose the correct set.

How Durable Is The Portable Badminton Net Set?

If you want your portable Badminton net set to last a long time then its important to ensure that you purchase a set that is durable. It’s good practice to find out if the components of the net are weather resistant or made of a durable material. Checking what materials are used and how durable those materials are will help you discover how long you can expect the net structure to last.  The portable badminton rackets can vary from competition quality to very flimsy and everything in between. So try to establish the quality of construction of the badminton rackets prior to making your choice.

Quality

The quality of the badminton shuttlecocks also vary greatly, from cheap plastic to high quality feather birdies. If the other components of the portable badminton net set are to your liking, but the shuttlecocks seem poor quality don’t scratch the set off your list immediately. This is because it’s easy and relatively cheap to buy good quality replacement shuttlecocks for your set.  The durability of the carry case is also important because the set will be stored in the carry case when not in use and a durable carry case can prevent damage and keep your set in good condition for longer. A durable carry case will also not tear or break easily which means that it can make transporting the set easier, for longer.

A great way of establishing the quality and durability of the portable badminton net, rackets, birdies and carry case is to read customer reviews. Customers who have bought and used the portable badminton sets themselves often post reviews praising the sets for their quality and durability or complaining about their lack of durability. Take your time to read the customer reviews to help make your final choice of the best portable badminton net set.

Price

An important consideration when choosing a portable badminton net set is how much you’re willing to spend. You might have a relatively small budget and this will limit the number of options available to you. In general, the lower the price, the less durable the set and the poorer quality. We have recommended nine portable net sets above that vary in price. But, I must point out that they are all relatively good quality. It would therefor be a good idea to start with our recommendations and narrow down your choices from there.

Conclusion

It was a difficult job to choose nine portable badminton net sets for my list. There are so many good options on the market at the moment. However, I had the privilege of testing and playing with a lot of portable badminton nets. These nine specifically met my requirements for the value they provide. If you’re considering investing in a portable badminton net set, then I would recommend one of these 9.

Can You Reach Over The Net In Tennis?

Can You Reach Over The Net In Tennis?

In the thrilling world of tennis, every shot is a battle of skill, strategy, and sheer determination. From the powerful serves to the lightning-fast volleys, the game demands agility, precision, and an unwavering competitive spirit. Yet, one question has lingered among both players and fans alike: Can you reach over the net in tennis?

Whether you’re new to tennis and are trying to improve your understanding of the game or a passionate follower of tennis, this article will answer this question once and for all.. So, tighten your grip on that racket and get ready to learn whether you can reach over the net in tennis.

What The Tennis Rules Saycan you reach over the net in tennis

In tennis, there are certain rules and regulations that govern the gameplay. One such rule is that players are not allowed to reach over the net and interfere with their opponent’s side of the court. This is strictly enforced to ensure fair play.

The net serves as a clear boundary between the two sides of the court. It prevents players from crossing into their opponent’s territory during a rally. The purpose of this rule is to maintain a level playing field and prevent any advantage gained through physical interference. Reaching over the net is not only against the rules but also dangerous. It poses a risk of collision between players and can lead to injuries. The net acts as a safety barrier, preventing unwanted contact between opponents. By reaching over the net, players jeopardize their own safety as well as that of their opponent.

However, this is not as clear cut as it may seem. There is an exception to this rule.

When Is A Tennis Player Allowed To Reach Over The Net?

It’s important to note that reaching over the net is not a usual part of the game’s strategy or technique. Tennis is a game that emphasizes fair play, respect for the rules, and sportsmanship. Players are expected to stay within the boundaries of the court and rely on their skills to outmaneuver their opponent.

The basic rule in tennis is that players should respect the imaginary vertical plane that extends upward from the net. This means that a player is not allowed to touch the net. Reaching over the net to hit the ball is not allowed either, unless specific conditions are met. The primary reason behind this rule is to ensure fair play and avoid any interference between the players.

However, there is an exception to this rule. The exception is when the ball has already crossed the net and is on the player’s side. In this case, the player is allowed to reach over the net to hit the ball. As long as they do not touch the net or interfere with their opponent’s ability to play the ball.

You might wander how it’s possible for the ball to cross the net and then go back over to your opponent’s side? Well, the most common reasons for that to occur is either spin or the wind.

Backspin Shot

If your opponent put some serious backspin on the tennis ball so that it just goes over the net, bounces on your side of the court and then spins back over the net. That would allow you to legally reach over the net and play your shot. The only time that you could be penalized is if your racquet, clothes or body touches the net.

Wind

There is another common reason for an opponent’s ball to land on your side of the court and then go back over to his or her side. This is if strong wind is blowing towards your opponent’s side of the court. So, your opponent hits a high shot, such as a lob, which land just over the net and strong gusts of wind blow the ball back towards your opponent’s court and over the net. If that happens then you can legally reach over the net and hit the ball. Once again, no part of your racquet, clothing or body can touch the net.

In summary, you can reach over the net if the ball has first bounced on your side of the court and gone back over the net to your opponent’s side. Obviously, you need to hit the ball before it bounces a second time.

In professional tennis matches, there are umpires and line judges present to ensure the rules are followed. If a player is found to be reaching over the net intentionally, they can face penalties, including the loss of a point or even disqualification from the match.

So, in conclusion, reaching over the net in tennis is not allowed under normal circumstances. It goes against the rules of fair play and can lead to injuries. Tennis is a game that values skill, strategy, and sportsmanship, and players must respect the boundaries set by the net.

Next time you watch a tennis match, keep an eye out for those incredible reach shots that players execute within the boundaries of the game. It’s a true display of athleticism and agility. And remember, always play by the rules and enjoy the game of tennis to its fullest!

Can A Player Touch The Net In Tennis?

As stated above, you are not allowed to reach over the net in tennis unless the ball has already bounced on your side of the tennis court. I did point out that if the ball bounces on your side and you then need to reach over the net to play your shot that you will not be penalized…unless you touch the net. So, can you touch the net any other time during a tennis match?

Rule 24 can a player touch the net in tennis

According to the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the governing body of tennis, Rule 24 of the official tennis rules states that a player is not allowed to touch the net with any part of their body or their racket during a point. The net is considered to be out of play and any interference with it can result in a penalty. The reasoning behind this rule is to ensure fair play and prevent any unfair advantage that a player might gain by touching the net. When a player touches the net, it can disrupt the flow of the game. It can also potentially interfere with their opponent’s shot or movement. It is essential to maintain the integrity of the game and prevent any unsportsmanlike conduct.

Severe Violations

Aside from losing the point, there may be additional consequences for a player who touches the net. Depending on the severity of the violation or any unsportsmanlike conduct associated with it, the player may receive a warning or even a penalty from the umpire. These penalties can range from a simple verbal warning to the deduction of points or even disqualification from the match. The severity of the penalty is at the discretion of the umpire. This may depend on the context and repeated violations.

It is worth noting that players are also not allowed to touch the net post, the cord, or the metal cable that supports the net. These elements are considered part of the net and fall under the same rule.

However, it’s important to note that if a player touches the net after the point has been completed then it would not result in a penalty. This is because the ball is considered dead and it does not affect the outcome of the point because it’s already been won by one of the players.

Conclusion

While reaching over the net is generally prohibited in tennis, there are situations where it is allowed. Whether it’s a ball that has already crossed the net or one that is about to, players can reach over the net as long as they don’t interfere with their opponent’s play. However, caution should be exercised, as any contact with the net or interference can result in penalties. So, next time you’re on the tennis court, remember the rules regarding reaching over the net and play fair!

Best Racquetball Goggles And Glasses For Every Budget

Racquetball player wearing racquetball goggles

When it comes to racquetball, ensuring maximum safety while maintaining optimal performance is crucial. One essential piece of equipment that is often overlooked, but every racquetball player should invest in is a reliable pair of protective eyewear. Not only do they protect your eyes from potential injuries, but they also enhance your performance on the court.

That’s why I would like to give you to the best racquetball goggles reviews on the market at the moment. I understand that not everyone has the same budget, so I’ve made recommendations for three price points: cheap, average priced, and higher priced racquetball goggles.

HEAD Impulse Racquetball Goggles Review

While HEAD is not famous for producing budget sports gear, their basic racquetball goggles is an exception to that. Firstly, you won’t find too many cheaper options from a reputable brand. Secondly, it comes with features that might even beat mid-range goggles. I tested the HEAD Impulse Racquetball Goggles for close to three weeks and I got a good feel for them in that time.

I am not a big fan of the frame, but you get what you pay for. However, HEAD has made the lenses anti-fog and scratch resistant. I found that the lenses were clear, but did start to fog up after lengthy play and excessive sweating. However, these Racquetball protective glasses were way better than most other relatively cheap goggles that don’t have any protection at all.

I found that the impact resistance in these basic HEAD Impulse Racquetball eyewear is satisfactory. I would not recommend it to someone who plays racquetball competitively, but for those who play racquetball socially it gets the job done very well. It also comes with adjustable elastic straps which isn’t always standard for basic goggles. At least you won’t have to worry about your goggles slipping off your head. You can’t expect perfection for when you’re only paying a few bucks, but it does get the job done. I would classify these as the best cheap racquetball goggles.

Pros
  • Anti-Fog

  • Scratch Resistant

  • Meets ANSI Z87.1 For Impact Protection

  • Lightweight Design

  • Very affordable

Cons
  • The Plastic Frame Isn’t As Strong As Pricier Goggles

  • Sometimes Fog Up After Lengthy Play

“I was skeptical about these because they’re fairly cheap. These fit me really well, and surprisingly, don’t fog at all! I get REALLY sweaty during games and I don’t wear a sweatband. They sit really close on my face, and within a minute of putting them on and starting game play, I don’t even notice them.” Review by Payel from the United States

“These glasses are perfect. They have an adjustable heavy elastic which keeps them on my head. I was concerned they would make my vision foggy when playing racketball. I was happy they are very easy and clear to see through. They hug my eye area, making me feel totally protected.”

HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball Glasses Review

I’ll be diving deep into the features and benefits of the HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball Goggles, based on my experience while testing it for four weeks, playing at minimum of three times a week for at last an hour at a time.

Impact Resistant

The primary reason for wearing Racquetball glasses on the court is to protect your eyes from being accidentally hit by racquetball balls or your opponents racquet. While testing these Racquetball protective eyewear it became clear that the HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball Goggles are built to withstand balls traveling at speed or the impact of a swinging Racquetball racquet. With their durable construction and impact-resistant lenses, these goggles offer very good protection, ensuring that your eyes stay safe during every game.

No Fogging

One of the most frustrating aspects of wearing Racquetball goggles during physical activity is dealing with fogged up lenses. However, with the HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball Goggles, I never had that problem. The goggles feature an anti-fog coating that prevented any fogging during my games, allowing me to maintain clear vision throughout my games. The fact that these racquetball glasses sat slightly away from my face helped the airflow and prevented any sweat from running onto the lenses too.

Comfortable

Comfort is also very important to me when choosing a pair of Racquetball glasses. With adjustable arms and a cushioned nosepiece, these goggles for Racquetball provide a snug yet comfortable fit. The ergonomic design ensured that these goggles stayed securely in place, even when I made sudden movements during play, ensuring a distraction-free game. These Racquetball glasses also come with a removable strap if you want to ensure that they do not fall off your face, but I only used it during one match for testing purposes. I found these Racquetball goggles sat so snugly that I didn’t need the strap.

Good Vision

I was impressed by how the HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball glasses offered me an expansive field of vision, this allowed me to track the ball and my opponents with ease. The frameless lenses definitely contributed to this in a big way. I also like how these goggles for racquetball look. The frameless lenses and sleek design means that you don’t look like you’re wearing a pair of construction safety glasses, but rather sporty Racquetball protective eyewear.

When it comes to racquetball, investing in a reliable pair of goggles is crucial. The HEAD Pro Elite Racquetball Goggles not only protect your eyes but also enhance your performance on the court. With their exceptional features, superior quality, and stylish design, these Racquetball goggles a good choice if you’re looking for an average priced pair of goggles for Racquetball.

Python Xtreme View Racquetball Glasses Review

If you can increase your budget a little, you will be able to get goggles for racquetball that take a massive leap in quality compared to the more affordable goggles or protective glasses. I always recommend that new racquetball players to go for the mid-range priced goggles option. These goggles will be able to give you a premium experience at a decent price. The Python Xtreme View Racquetball glasses is my favorite at this price point. I tested these for a period of three weeks and here is what I thought.

Python is very reliable when it comes to racquetball accessories. The Python Xtreme View eyeguard is the best choice in the mid-range racquetball goggles category. If you shop around, you will find a number goggles that are cheaper than the Python Xtreme View, but those goggles are simply not worth the money. Let me tell you why these goggles are the best in this price range.

The most common problem people face with cheap and mid-range Racquetball safety glasses is that the lenses fog up very quickly once you start sweating on the court. To keep the price down the quality of the lenses is not that great in these goggles. Python Xtreme View does not have much better lenses than other relatively cheap goggles. However, it is designed in a way to address the fogging issues. The lenses are set in a way so that they aren’t too close to the racquetball player’s face. As a result, even if the player sweats a lot, they won’t become fogged up.

It also does the basic things right. The body is made of plastic and rubber, but durable enough to protect your eyes from getting hit by rogue balls. The two-piece lens design takes care of the aesthetics as well. On top of that, it’s design makes sure one can wear it with or without the head strap.

Pros
  • Excellent Anti-Fogging

  • Comfortable

  • Durable

  • Meets ANSI Z87.1 For Impact Protection

  • Good Value For Money

  • Great Design

Cons
  • Lens Quality Could’ve Been Better

I’m excited to introduce the Ektelon More Game Air Racquetball Goggles, a game-changer for racquetball players of all levels. I tested these racquetball goggles for three weeks and was very impressed by them.

Equipped with anti-fog technology, these goggles ensured clear vision throughout my matches, even in the most intense situations. Say goodbye to constantly wiping your goggles or struggling to see the ball. With the Ektelon More Game Air Racquetball Goggles, I was able to maintain optimal visibility. The blue lenses brightened the court and removed the glare of the overhead lights, so I really liked how I could see the ball much clearer.

Additionally, these goggles offer excellent protection for your eyes. The durable polycarbonate lenses are designed to withstand high-velocity impacts, shielding your eyes from stray racquetballs or accidental collisions. Safety should never be compromised, and with the Ektelon More Game Air Racquetball Glasses, you can play with confidence, knowing that your eyes are well-protected.

Comfort, clarity, and safety are undoubtedly top priorities for any racquetball player, and the Ektelon More Game Air Racquetball Goggles delivered on all fronts. But that’s not all – these goggles also boast a sleek and stylish design.

Negatives

I couldn’t find any fault with these Racquetball protective eyewear. Some players like to change the lenses, so the only minor negative is that these Racquetball safety glasses do not have interchangeable lenses. Honestly though, the fact that these blue lenses work so well on the court means that I wouldn’t want to keep changing them out for other lenses anyway.

To sum it up, if you’re serious about racquetball, the Ektelon More Game Air Racquetball Goggles are a must-have. Do You Need Goggles For Racquetball?

I’ll be very honest with you, racquetball goggles are definitely not among the compulsory racquetball gear you need in order to play racquetball. If you don’t wear racquetball gogles, it might not affect your performance. Some players actually believe that wearing goggles will hamper your performance because they think it might feel uncomfortable while wearing a pair.

Wearing racquetball goggles is important for eye protection during racquetball games. These goggles are specifically designed to withstand the impact of a fast-moving racquetball ball and to protect the eyes from potential injuries such as direct hits, accidental contact, or collisions with other players or their racquetball racquet. By wearing racquetball goggles, players can significantly reduce the risk of eye damage, including corneal abrasions, lacerations, and blunt trauma.

Which Racquetball Goggles to Choose?

When choosing a pair of racquetball goggles it depends on two factors, your budget and your priorities. If you are an occasional racquetball player who only plays with friends during weekends & you don’t want to spend a lot on your hobby then go for the cheapest option. If you want to take racquetball a bit more seriously and possibly wish to attend competitions in the future, then I would suggest you to purchase a pair of mid-range or premium Racquetball goggles.

Competitions are way more intense than occasional matches, so you will need better gear and accessories. If you want to become a more serious racquetball player, you should get the best pair of racquetball goggles, provided you have the budget to do so. Most competitive players use premium gear, and they will get an advantage over you if you have below par accessories.

Best Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball Paddle Review Of All Time!

prince spectrum pro pickleball paddle red

What is it that makes the Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball paddle different? The paddles that Prince make combine the finest qualities of a tennis racquet, with a thicker core that is found in some of the best pickleball paddles.

The Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball paddle is a little more closer in size and shape to a tennis racquet , which also provides a bigger sweet spot. In contrast to hitting the ball from the center of the paddle, you get more room to strike the ball while keeping power and control.

The Price Spectrum Pro Pickleball paddle has a thick polymer core which allows you to control the power you can unleash with every swing. It’s more responsive which lets you hit a dink shot or smash the ball easily.

Who Manufactures Prince Pickleball Paddles?prince spectrum pro pickleball paddle orange

If you are a tennis player then you’ve probably bought Prince products in the past. They manufacture high-quality tennis racquets and balls along with other sports equipment.

Their entry into the paddle market is relatively new. They have also chosen not to manufacture the paddles themselves.

The paddles that are branded “Prince” are made by Paddletek. Paddletek is a small business based in Michigan and is among the top paddle manufacturers.

Instead of making these paddles themselves, Prince decided to partner with this seasoned pickleball manufacturer to create a new line of paddles with the Prince brand.

The Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball Paddle has a circular shape that provides an extra big sweet spot that exceeds “touch” players’ expectations.

What is a sweet spot you might ask? It is the region of the paddle that produces the lowest amount of vibrations during contact when the ball is hit. When you hit the ball in this area you can increase the control and power. Also, it reduces stress on the wrist which can also lower the risk of pickleball-related injuries too.

The paddle also has a very soft feel, which allows you to hit winners effortlessly anytime you spot an opening.

The thick polymer core is used to improve its responsiveness while a slim edge guard lets you enjoy the largest amount of surface area.

The Prince Spectrum Pro Is A Great All-Rounder

This paddle is a departure from the usual trade-offs you’ll encounter when you’re using composite fiberglass paddles. It has an incredible sweet spot and outstanding power capabilities which makes it attractive to those who need an excellent defensive paddle as well as an offensive weapon.

The Spectrum Pro Paddle has a 5″ long handle that can be purchased in two different grip and weight sizes, allowing you to modify the features to meet your requirements.

The large 8-1/4″ gives you plenty of space to take every shot you want with the ability to control your volley’s direction and angle. The design uses the background which is a honeycomb/jagged combination design, which is then overlaid with the Prince “P” logo.

The Spectrum Pro Paddle features a fantastic blend of control and strength that will leave you feeling more at ease with your game than you have ever felt before.

Progressive Core technology is thicker than regular polymer cores. It has a 9/16″ thick core that gives the linear progressive experience.

The more you boost your shots power, the greater the amount of that power is transferred into the ball.

Fiberglass Faceprince spectrum pro pickleball paddle purple

Typically, with other fiberglass-faced paddles, this creates a concentrated “hot spot” in the centre of the paddle. However it is the Progressive Core” on the Prince paddle, in conjunction with its unique rounded shape which increases the sweet spot and ensures consistency in soft shots such as dinks and defense volleys, where you have to take the power out of the shots that are  coming at you quickly, and shots that can be put away.

Head

The head’s shape is round, which makes for an enormous, consistent sweet spot. I prefer the paddle that allows me to play a good defensive game when attacked by aggressive ground strokes or hard volleys. This Prince paddle is among the finest control paddles I’ve played with.

It’s a composite paddle that has the finesse and feel of graphite, with lots of control and plenty of power when you’re looking to put a ball away. It’s lightweight and consequently, I have a great touch when playing softer shots. The face has enough traction that it gives me great spin control.

Grip

The first thing you’ll notice with the Prince Spectrum Pro is the shape of the grip. Due to its thick core, the shape of the grip appears more square instead of an elongated rectangle or oval which I consider to be an advantage.

I like that it comes in a slim (4 1/8″)”) and standard (4 3/8″) circumference. Its shape allows you to keep a good feel for the right angles of your paddle when you hold it while minimizing the impact caused by rounder paddles.

Although I think it is a power paddle, because it has a larger sweet spot and shots are more predictable, and consequently ball control is improved for all types of shots.

Weightprince spectrum pro pickleball paddle red

The Prince Spectrum Pro has the feel of a lighter paddle than it actually is and ,therefore, the amount of pop and power can be surprising. The weight of the paddle affects the degree of soft touch or power the paddle has and since this paddle comes with the widest range of weight options , one can easily increase or decrease the weight of the paddle, resulting in more or less control or power.

I appreciate the fact that this paddle manufacturer doesn’t think one one size will fit all and this paddle is a great example of that. Choices in terms of weight range and grip Let the user decide the best one! Regarding ball feel and control of shots, I think it’s here that the Spectrum excels.

At first, I was hitting too many balls out the back as I didn’t realize the amount of pop the paddle had and I was overswinging since it felt lighter. The weight of the paddle seems like it could be slightly more handle-biased.

After playing for about thirty minutes, I began to really get the feel for the paddle and was able of put plenty of spin on the ball, and feel as though I had better control and placement of the shots.

Due to the weighting, it feels very fast and maneuverable. The larger face helped me feel more confident, especially when I worked on spin serves, cutting backhand return and defending volleys.

It has a broad, consistent sweet spot, which allowed for more risky and creative shots. This while ensuring consistency as I didn’t have to think whether I hit it in the right spot.

Paddle For All Skill Levels

Absolutely confidence-building. I believe that this is an excellent paddle for intermediate, beginner and advanced players as long as you are searching for a paddle to improve your performance.

Due to the larger face and the large sweet spot, this paddle is excellent and is also very forgiving.

Pick from four different colors, light (7.2-7.7 OZ) or standard (7.8-8.3 8 oz) weights, and two sizes of grips.

Pros and Cons Of The Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball paddle

As we’ve mentioned the paddles offer a variety of advantages for players of all levels particularly for those with experience in playing tennis.

Pros

#1 Largest Sweet Spot Available

The big sweet spot as well as the an incredibly responsive polymer core are among the main features on this paddle. Like we said, these paddles permit you to hit the ball with more power. Also, you can hold back and hit a soft shot with ease.

#2 A Well-Balanced Design

Apart from the advantages previously discussed this paddle is also very well-balanced. The head isn’t too heavy thanks to the longer grips. For the majority of players the balance is essential for power, spin and control.

#3 Two Different Weight Optionsprince spectrum pro pickleball paddle blue

You can also pick between two different weight options as well as two sizes of grips. Spectrum Pro comes with two grip sizes and is available in either standard or light weights.

The lighter models weigh between approximately 7.1-ounces and 7.6-ounces depending on which one you prefer, the thinner or more thick grip. The standard weight paddle weighs somewhere between 7.7-ounces as well as 8.1-ounces.

Although a half-ounce might not seem like a huge difference, the weight could be a factor in competitive games. When you choose lighter weight models you lose a bit of power in order gain more control, whereas the heavier choices offer the exact opposite.

#4 Responsive Polymer Core

Progressive Core technology is thicker, at 9/16″, than regular polymer cores which gives the linear progressive experience.

The more you increase the shot power, the more that power is transferred to the ball.

#5 Two separate grip sizes

The Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball paddle comes in a standard (4 3/8″) and a slim (4 1/8″) circumference. Its shape also allows you to keep a good feel for your paddle when holding it and reduces the impact.

Cons

There are three problems to think about before purchasing your very first paddle from Prince.

#1 Power

These paddles will offer the greatest power when taking big swings. This could provide too much power for beginners.

#2 Takes Time To Master

If you are just beginning to learn to play the game of pickleball it is best to concentrate on control and precision. While you gain more responsive feel with the thick polymer core, it requires time and effort for mastering the flexibility offered by these versatile paddles.

In addition to beginners, those without a tennis background might be able to see that these paddles come with an learning curve.

#3 Pricey

This paddle is somewhat more expensive than other choices. But, you must be aware of what you are getting in return for the extra cost.

The core of this paddle is the thickest with the biggest sweet spot and this paddle can last for years. The fact that this paddle hold up well adds to it’s value overall.

Who Should Start Playing With The Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball Paddle?

The Prince Spectrum Pro is an ideal choice for all types of players. Although beginners might need to put in a bit more effort to get used to the flexibility of this well-balanced paddle, it’s closest to the feel of a tennis racquet.

The paddle also ideal to players who are more experienced. Due to the thicker polymer core and racquet-like shape it has the largest sweet spot as well as the most responsiveness.

This Prince Spectrum Pro paddle is designed to last, durable and powerful. It also provides an accurate and reliable spin that is ideal for all players levels.

If you’re looking to purchase a new paddle Prince has their Spectrum Pro for players of any skill level to enjoy for many years to come.

Best Tennis Strings: Cheap, Mid-Priced & Premium Tennis Racquet Strings

Best Tennis Strings

Suppose you bought one of the best tennis rackets that your local tennis shop had to offer. As the racket does not come pre-strung, you also bought the first strings set that caught your eye. And eventually, when you go to play, you discover that you are not able to place your shots where you want on the court because you didn’t buy the best tennis strings. It sucks, right?

So many tennis players I know have suffered from this issue because they choose bad quality tennis racket strings. I would like to recommend the best tennis racket strings of 2020, so that you can get the best out of your racket and improve your game.

I am going to recommend three different tennis racket strings for three different categories: budget, mid-range, and premium strings. Depending on your budget, you can choose one that fits your racket. However, a tennis racket’s performance does not always depend on the kind of strings you use. The racket itself, grip, vibration dampeners, and your own skillset determines how well you will play. Take a look at our comprehensive Tennis Equipment List with product recommendation to get an idea of what else you need to be the best tennis player you can be.

If you want to improve your tennis game considerably, then you need to take a look at the top tennis training available so that your tennis strings are put to good use. This training will take your tennis to the next level.

Wilson Synthetic Gut Power: Best Cheap Tennis Strings

CHECK PRICE

While cheap tennis racket strings are not known for their durability, the Wilson Synthetic Gut Power Tennis Strings is an anomaly among tons of low quality racket strings. These strings are surprisingly good and durable. Well, synthetic gut is not able to generate enormous power, but this product also comes with high energy wraps that surround the core of the strings. As a result you will be able to deliver more power with this one compared to other strings that fall into the same price bracket.

In addition, ball control is pretty decent with these strings. You won’t have to worry about misplacing your shots when using these relatively cheap tennis strings. This is one of the main reasons why I chose the Wilson Synthetic Gut Power as the best cheap tennis strings option for my list.

However, you should not expect a lot of spin and feel from the Wilson Synthetic Gut Power strings. These are not made for a more advanced level of play. I would recommend these strings to casual and beginner players who do not need tennis racket restringing done very often and don’t have the budget to spend a lot on strings. If you are past that stage, choose one from the next two.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Durable
  • Produces more power compared to regular synthetic gut strings
  • Provides decent level of control for the price

Cons

  • Does not provide spin or feel

Babolat RPM Blast 17g:  Mid-Priced Babolat Tennis Strings

CHECK PRICE

It’d be so cool to use the same tennis racket strings as Rafael Nadal, right? Well Rafa used to play with Babolat RPM Blast tennis strings back in 2010. It is one of the most popular and cherished strings of tennis players the world over. You’ll be surprised to know that these great quality racket strings are not even remotely close to the most expensive tennis racket strings on the market. This means you don’t have to pay large sums of money to use such a great product!

The most unique feature of the Babolat RPM Blast 17g is the octagonal shape. This is to date one of the best ever strings for spin.  Apart from being able to generate some awesome spin, these strings also feel great. Its soft surface ensures that you don’t have to deal with a lot of vibration while receiving your opponent’s serves.

However, if you are a player with big strokes these strings might not be the best option for you because they are not well-known for producing power. You know, Rafa himself was not a player who depended on brute force, so it’s understandable that his racket strings of choice back in 2010 would not focus solely on pure power. The Babolat RPM Blast tennis strings will give you more control, comfort, and feel. If these are the qualities you’re looking for then the Babolat RPM Blast 17g is definitely the strings you should take a serious look at!

Pros

  • Octagonal shape
  • Great for control
  • Best for spin
  • Feels great
  • Receives serves with comfort

Cons

  • Does not generate a lot of power

Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut: Premium Babolat Tennis Strings

CHECK PRICE

If you want to invest in the best tennis racket strings, the Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut is your obvious pick. It might sound like a turn off when I reveal that these strings are made of polyester, but hear me out. Regardless of the fact that these tennis strings are made of polyester, these strings come with the original traits that are seen in natural gut strings. So what are these traits? Stability, spin, control, and durability.

The Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut has innovative technologies like Thermogut and BT7, making it one of the most durable strings out there. According to Babolat, these technologies have drastically improved these strings’ durability and longevity. In addition, the newest version of the Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut is 60% more resistant to humidity. This means that you won’t have to worry about your strings getting ruined when the weather is hot and humid.

These racket strings tick all the boxes an advanced level tennis player might want from their strings. The VS Touch Natural Gut is great for power, spin & control. The price is on the higher side and paying this much for 16 gauge racket strings might sound unreasonable, but the quality of these strings are totally unmatched.

Pros

  • Natural gut feel
  • BT7 and Thermogut technologies
  • 60% more humidity resistant
  • Durable and long lasting
  • Great for spin, control, and power
  • Feels great

Cons

  • Relatively expensive

Conclusion

These were my recommendations for the best tennis racket strings of 2020. However, there are many other good options at different price points. For example, a few dollars more than the most affordable option, a few dollars less than the premium option etc. I just wanted to cover three of the most common price points. If you know of some other great tennis racket strings, feel free to let me and our readers know about them. We would love to know your thoughts!
